KNEWSLETTER Vol. 21

October is always one of the funnest months on the San Francisco Bay. It's our last opportunity to sneak in a few more warm weather cruises before the holiday season occupies our calendars. We watched the Blue Angels and aerobatic crews rumble through the skies for a glorious Fleet Week. Oktoberfest lederhosen and pumpkin beanies replace the usual boating attire. And in the yard, we are working on last minute projects for boats joining the Baja Haha.

It's a perfect time to start planing your winter projects. We have lots of indoor space for all your wintertime improvements. Book now to secure your space in the yard!
FROM THE BILGE
by Paul Kaplan
Paul has been sweeping on the job... literally. He's been prepping the yard for some new pavement. He's also preparing for a presentation at the Marine Recreation Association Conference and Trade Show this week, so he didn't have time to share his insights for this issue. Keep your eyes peeled for the next Knewsletter and the latest musings from inside the bilges of Paul's brain.

Till next time!

MEET THE TEAM - HE'S WILLING AND ABEL!

Abel has been working in the KKMI Sausalito yard for just over five years. He shared with us how much he loves doing the challenging paint jobs that come into the yard. He's very proud of how much he's learned and pleased with the skill level that he's reached. Needless to say, so are we. We're grateful to have him on our team.

BOATING FUNNIES

We understand this all too well... and as one of our followers on Facebook pointed out... they left out an important word: get somewhere SLOW for free.

Don't let your boat get this bad... we can help!

WE LEFT THE GATE OPEN AND RANDALL REEVES SNUCK OUT...

It was nice to have Randall back in the yard for what seemed like a very short visit compared to his last stay. We wished him safe travels and are now excited to cheer him on for his next try on his Figure 8 voyage!

Here's a photo of Randall while he was in the Kyard

LAST KNEWSLETTER CHALLENGE & WINNER

CHALLENGE\ANSWER:

Find the six(6) differences in the photos below:

Speaking of Mirka sweepers... here's a little bit more about these carts for your enjoyment.

WINNER: Congratulations, former KKMI employee - Caleb Carlson!
We were so excited to hear from Caleb! A lot of you have been asking where he is and how he's doing. What a nice surprise to have him show up as one of our winners. We are thinking we may put a caveat that he can only claim his prize if he comes to visit!

Here is the note we got from Caleb:

I am working in this somewhat primitive boatyard in the jungle of Eastern Panama. So primitive that I have the most boat knowledge of anyone working here. Although most of the clients have more cruising experience. Mostly Europeans here and going through canal to South Pacific.

We will be heading to Caribbean in late November to spend winter exploring and maybe get to Grenada for work during next hurricane season.

Miss the KKMI crew and the great facilities there.
