Knewsletter Vol. 9

The boat yard is BUZZZZZin'! That strange glowing orb in the sky shows up for a couple of days and everyone starts coming out of the woodwork. We are not complaining! It's always fun around here, but spring has definitely sprung and we are busy little bees buzzin' away getting your boats ready for summer!

On that note...If you know any talented bees, please send them our way. We are always looking for skilled technicians to join our hive.

We're hosting the first seminars that we've had in a while this coming weekend. They filled up so rapidly that we didn't get to mention them in a knewsletter. Keep your eyes out! We'll be adding new events and will keep you posted on timing and topics.

If you've even remotely been considering updating your rigging, you should definitely check out our current specials. Probably the best deals you're ever gonna see! Let's get riggy with it!!
FROM THE BILGE
by Paul Kaplan

The other day as a boat was coming into the dock someone aboard said, "Toss me a line." Of course, being an unfulfilled comedian I responded by saying, "A pirate walks into bar with a parrot on his shoulder..." And yes, my reply triggered the desired chuckle I was hoping for as I threw them the line. But this brings up the old nautical question, when does a rope become a line?
JOIN OUR CREW!
We are always looking for talented craftsmen and women. If you or someone you know is a gifted craftsman, electrician, mechanic, metal fabricator, fiberglass expert, jack of all trades, shipwright... please do send them our way. This is a great place to work!

Applications can be submitted in person, via email or fax to either location. Contact details here.

KYARDOG OF THE MONTH

Meet Spot!

Spot has been gracing the yard while his owners work on their charter boat - El Dorado. Spot loves to get pets and treats! It's been a lot of fun having you around, Spot! Visit BerkeleyCharterBoats to book El Dorado after she's done getting fixed up at the yard. You just might get to meet Spot in person!
BE SURE TO VISIT US AT THE BOAT SHOW!

We will be in Booth BU1 - right next to the main entrance to the pavilion.

LIFE AT & BEYOND THE KYARD

Every boat has a story. We love being embedded in those lines.

Here are some shots of a bay classic getting some work done on her mast. It's a pleasure to have Brigadoon in the yard.

It was our honor to help out the San Rafael Fire Department with the recommissioning of their new (to them) fire boat. We look forward to hearing stories of her adventures!

This was a touching moment in Bay Area history. Two bay area legends, Hank Easom and Bob Smith, cross paths while in the yard, as Jock Maclean (up and coming legend) looks on.

Please send your photos -  We'd love to hear about your adventures!
SEE YOU NEXT TIME!

Until we pop back into your inbox... we hope to see you around the Bay or in the Kyard!
