  • Use social media to spread the word about #SaferInternetDay and encourage others to participate (suggested text and graphics).
  • Write an op-ed and pitch local media on what your school or organization is doing for Safer Internet Day.

2025 NATIONAL TEACHER OF THE YEAR: ASHLIE CROSSON'S INVIGORATING ROAD TRIP

When Ashlie Crosson first entered the classroom as an educator 15 years ago, little did she know that she would later have the opportunity and honor of a lifetime: to crisscross the country as an ambassador for the teaching profession and advocate for students.

“When you put educators, families, communities and stakeholders in a room to talk about how to make schools better, it is the most positively contagious space,” says Crosson, the 2025 National Teacher of the Year. “If you are involved in education, you are inherently driven to improve because that’s what education is.”

SENSORY FRIENDLY TIME AT EXPLORA

We’ve dedicated extra time for guests who prefer a less sensory-stimulating visit:

  • Limited attendance - tickets available to reserve in advance
  • Sensory Kits (noise reduction headphones, fidget objects, timers, social stories, and more)
  • Noise and light reduction (some exhibits might be turned off)
  • Additional calming space for sensory breaks

TAKE YOUR FAMILY TO SCHOOL WEEK

National PTA’s Take Your Family to School Week, celebrated Feb. 16–20, 2026, is designed to provide families with an opportunity to get more involved in their child’s education and strengthen their partnerships with teachers and administrators. The timing of the week honors the day PTA was founded, Feb. 17, 1897.

VALLES CALDERA NATIONAL PRESERVE WANTS TO SEE YOU!

At Valles Caldera National Preserve, we are eager to provide free educational programs and opportunities for students across New Mexico. From getting into classrooms to hosting field trips, our team provides valuable curriculum-based, hands-on, and multidisciplinary experiences for your students. Programs often focus on geology, wildlife, ecology, environmental science, history, public lands, and careers in the National Park Service.

Every Kid Outdoors is one of the major areas in which we provide programs. This is a program, implemented by the federal government, that provides a free interagency pass to fourth grade students. Typically, we provide an in-school or virtual visit that teaches about the National Park Service, what we work to protect and students’ roles in that, and general information about Valles Caldera National Preserve. This is a wonderful opportunity for your students to be able to enjoy their public lands with family and friends, free of charge.

Field trip experiences are, by far, our favorite days on the job. The use of hands-on, experience-based learning activities allows for students’ heightened understanding of Valles Caldera, including its geologic and cultural history. Funding for buses to the Preserve may be available on a case-by-case basis.

Have a topic you'd like us to cover? A special event our presence might add to? Just ask!

DOES YOUR CHILD LACK MOTIVATION?

Kids of all ages sometimes struggle to get motivated in school. Maybe they fight doing homework, let their grades drop, or just don’t seem excited about learning. If you notice that your child has issues with motivation, the first step is to figure out what is standing in their way.

What it could mean when they just don’t seem to be putting in the effort.
