JOIN US TO HELP SHAPE THE FUTURE OF EDUCATION IN NEW MEXICO

The New Mexico Public Education Department and the LANL Foundation will host a series of regional community meetings across the state, and we invite you to be part of this urgent and important effort.

These open-house style events are designed to inform and engage community members in shaping the state’s Action Plan in response to the Martinez/Yazzie lawsuit. This plan will guide how New Mexico supports:

  • Native American students
  • English language learners
  • Students with disabilities
  • Students from low-income families

Throughout the session, there will be multiple opportunities to learn, reflect, and share your input through one-on-one conversations, small group discussions, and written feedback. Come anytime between 4:00 and 7:00 p.m.

We’ll be exploring important questions such as:

  • How do we create learning environments that reflect students’ cultures and identities?
  • What do students and teachers need to succeed in the classroom?
  • How can we ensure that schools are funded fairly and resources are used wisely?
  • What must schools, communities, and governments do to fulfill their responsibilities to these students?

To support full participation, we will provide:

  • Free food
  • On-site childcare
  • Translation services
  • ASL interpretation
