There was little time to spend in the kitchen last year when 24-year-old Sara Ducharme was preparing for her first body building show.
"I was working full-time and working a part-time job, and training for the show was like a full-time job. Trying to do my meal preparation on top of it all was something I found hard to fit in. It took probably 4 or 5 hours every weekend," said Ducharme.
Ducharme discovered companies online offering home-delivered, healthy meals in Toronto; she wondered why such a service wasn't offered locally.
"That's what sparked the original idea," she said.

Young entrepreneurs showcase their businesses in Windsor
Showcasing a small summer business by day and attending high school graduation by night - that's how some young entrepreneurs spent their Wednesday.
The Staples store on Walker Road was home to much more than office supplies, as 25 students set up stalls for the day to showcase their businesses as part of the Summer Company program for young entrepreneurs.

WindsorEssex Active Retirement Community Initiative, in partnership with the Small Business Centre, is launching Start Something New, a mentoring and resource program for retired boomerpreneurs and juniorpreneurs eager to connect with a wealth of expertise and knowledge for shaping their decisions.
An information session will be held Tuesday, July 5, 2016 from 12-4 p.m. at the Ciociaro Club (3745 N. Talbot Rd.). The session is geared toward active Windsor-Essex retires who are operating a business, thinking of starting a business, former business owners, as well as juniorpreneurs planning a business startup.

Supporting local music managers at entrepreneurial bootcamp
WindsorEssex Small Business Centre &
WindsorEssex Economic Development Corporation presented a free two-day entrepreneurial bootcamp to Windsor-Essex music managers June 25-26.
The Artist Manager Bootcamp was hosted at Windsor's
Phog Lounge and led by instructors from Canada's Music Incubator (CMI) in Toronto. Ten
local music entrepreneurs took part in the bootcamp, which covered topics such a
s: running your business, pitching, negotiating, networking, touring, marketing, funding, team building, publicity, contracts and more.
Thank you to CMI for educating Windsor-Essex artists managers, and to our community partners for their support and promotion: Phog Lounge, Arts Council Windsor and Region, EPICentre, University of Windsor, CJAM FM, Tourism Windsor Essex Pelee Island, Coalition Music and Ontario Media Development Corporation.

Summer Company-Staples Youth Entrepreneurship Day
The Small Business Centre has launched the 2016 Summer Company program with 25 high school and post-secondary students participating -- our largest group yet!
The young entrepreneurs displayed their products and services at a Windsor Staples store on June 29. Shoppers were able to meet the participants and receive 10% off their Staples purchases. The Young Entrepreneurship Day was recognized at 54 Staples stores across Ontario, and featured over 500 Summer Company businesses.

The Starter Company grant will be used to complete renovations of their centre at 3244 Walker Rd.. It is slated to open August 2016.

Fete Photography Co. expands with Starter Company grant
Mona Elkadri started her small businesss, Fete Photography Co. in May 2015. She specializes in newborn, portrait and product photography. Elkadri successfully completed the Starter Company program and received $5,000 to upgrade equipment for her business.
