Abraham Orthodontics

A new doctor is bringing specialized treatments to a modern clinic in his hometown of Leamington.

Abraham Orthodontics, which opened March 15, offers the latest in orthodontics, including clear and metal braces, Invisalign, functional appliances and advanced surgical treatments.

"Our practice philosophy is having progressive, exceptional, affordable orthodontics," said Dr. Maxwell Abraham, owner of Abraham Orthodontics. "We want to eliminate or reduce any barriers that may be there for care, especially when it comes with working with younger patients."

Congratulations to SBC small business member  Calabria Costal Bistro  on a successful relaunch! They served 235 people during their opening weekend April 15-17. New owners Jeff Wiper and Melissa Nauss took over the Cottam restaurant after relocating from Chester, Nova Scotia last year.

Business Plan


A good  business  plan is your road map to success! A  business  plan is also required when applying for any type of small business financing.  Attend one of these FREE seminars to learn how to develop a  business  plan that will work for you! This session will cover:
  • Required elements of a business plan
  • Breaking down a business plan into manageable pieces
  • Where to gather relevant information for a business plan
  • How to professionally arrange your ideas and research
  • What to do with the plan when it's completed

Starter Company

This Government of Ontario program provides people aged 18-29 with the resources and knowledge needed to start and grow their own business. The program includes one-on-one guidance from the Small Business Centre, mentoring with local professionals, funding of up to $5,000 and access to the following workshops.

Don't qualify for Starter Company? The classes are free  and open to the public.

Artist Manager Bootcamp comes to Windsor-Essex

The Small Business Centre & WindsorEconomic Development Corporation are presenting an Artist Manager Bootcamp, hosted by Canada's Music Incubator. This FREE training takes place Jun 25-26 at Phog Lounge in Windsor. Up to 15 pre-selected music artists managers, self-managed artists or transitioning industry professionals will receive entrepreneurial training and mentorship.

Business Excellence Awards 2016

The Small Business Centre and WindsorEssex Economic Development Corporation proudly sponsored the Business Excellence Awards on April 20 at Caesars Windsor. The 26th annual awards were hosted by the Windsor-Essex Regional Chamber of Commerce. SBC client and Starter Company grant recipient Devine Personnel took home the award for New Business of the Year!

Starter Company is not just for startups! Jesse Benoit launched his small business, Windsor Plumbing & Eel, last year. He entered the Starter Company program to further grow his business with the help of training and a $5,000 expansion grant.

Summer Company offers co-op credits to high school students

The Small Business Centre has partnered with the Windsor-Essex Catholic District School Board to offer co-operative education credits to its students enrolled in Summer Company. Students in the summer entrepreneur program receive training, mentorship and $3,000 to launch a full-time summer business.
Small Business Centre delivers Student Ventures training

The Small Business Centre is please to announce a partnership with the Greater Essex County District School board to provide training for student entrepreneurs. High school students receive five full days of instruction, funding and co-op credits as part of the Student Ventures program, which is funded by M inistry of Economic Development, Employment and Infrastructure.
Small Business Centre + WindsorEconomic Development Corporation releases quarterly report

The Small Business Centre has been busy! From helping startups and hosting workshops to Starter Company and community outreach. In the first quarter of 2016, the centre alone facilitated 446 small business consultations (up 32% over this time last year) and helped create 103 jobs.
