If you like to eat locally grown, organic produce and enjoy culture rich cuisine then you should definitely visit some of our local markets. They present a colourful array of seasonal foods and unique regional specialties combined with great atmosphere, art and entertainment. Below are some of Windsor-Essex's most popular markets that you do not want to miss this summer.

Located in the heart of the city , Downtown Windsor Farmers' Market (DWFM) brings together a variety of local vendors that pride themselves on exceptional standards and quality offerings.

In addition to the traditional selling of farm fresh fruit, vegetables, produce and unique artisan food products, the farmers' market also exhibits arts and crafts vendors, non-food vendors, community booths, entertainment, food demonstrations and other special events that attract the community to the market's fun and family-friendly environment.

RoboToad Spawns 3D Printing Animal Model Business for University of Windsor Student
Sharon Hill | Windsor Star

"The use of 3D printing brings about a new era for animal behaviourists," said University of Windsor biology professor Dan Mennill of Lincoln Savi's life-like animal models for research.
It was the eyes.

A yellow toad Lincoln Savi made with a 3D printer started to look alive like the ones in Costa Rica as the University of Windsor master's student applied the last brush strokes of clear paint.

"I just had a big smile on my face," the biology student recalled last week. "The real magic when I knew that I had a good model was as soon as I put the finishing touch on painting it which was glossing the eyes so they were reflective like a real eye. As soon as I did that I was surprised at how realistic it was and just had to share it with people."

How to become an entrepreneur: Do you have what it takes?
Business Development Bank of Canada

"Could I do it on my own out there?" is a question that many of us have asked ourselves in the course of our careers.

The answer to that question may be tied to whether or not we have a specific set of aptitudes and motivators that make us potential entrepreneurs, says Yvon Gasse, Professor and Director of the SME and Entrepreneurship Centre at Laval University. Gasse collaborated with BDC to develop the  Entrepreneurial Self-Assessment Tool which helps people better measure their entrepreneurial potential.

"Although many factors come into play such as your personal circumstances and timing, research does show that business owners often share certain qualities that make up the entrepreneurial mindset," he emphasizes.
