This year has been a challenging one, but it has been a true honor to be part of Missouri Main Street and see communities come together to support and comfort businesses, neighbors, and friends. At this time, we want to take time to slow down and show our gratitude for our friends. This year has been so unusual and unfamiliar, but yet we have so much to celebrate!
Thank you for the work you do to ensure the continuation of Main Street in Missouri and to ensure our historic downtowns are vibrant places now and in the future.
We have been fortunate to enjoy the continued support of so many of you. We could not carry on our mission without the dedication and contributions from you. Our support has enabled many downtowns to weather the pandemic storm and not only survive, but thrive during this time of uncertainty.
As you ponder your priorities during this holiday season, we hope you will consider a gift to MMSC. Our work helps communities save their unique historic downtowns for generations to come and we want you to participate with us as we embrace our passion together.
We appreciate your support in any amount you can give. Please choose the frequency of your donation to MMSC today by clicking on one of the buttons below. Together we can help communities save their unique historic downtowns for generations to come.
Please stay safe during this holiday season.

Kindest regards,

Time is Running Out! Putting CARES Act Money to Support Downtown Revitalization
As the year draws to a close (and none too soon), it is time to figure out how to utilize the remaining CARES Act money allocated to counties and cities to support the small businesses in your community. These dollars are to be expended by December 30, 2020. Missouri Main Street Connection (MMSC) worked very closely with several working groups within the Missouri Department of Economic Development to help guide some of the planning and deployment of resources to small businesses in the state. We are very familiar with the most impactful and helpful resources for small businesses in our Main Street or non-Main Street communities.

MMSC can help your downtown environment become more resilient and bounce back quicker through strategic planning, business recruitment planning, and small business training. MMSC is expertly equipped to provide one-on-one training, group trainings either in person or virtually, or provide analysis to help strategically determine the best course of action for recovery. Not only can we provide specialized services, but we also offer one- and two-year in-depth services to do a deep-dive providing a more comprehensive plan. You can also take a look at our Service Directory online.

If you want to discuss potential technical or specialized services, email Keith Winge at
Painting 101: Historic Buildings
Painting can be one of the most dramatic improvements you make to your building. However, only paint a building that has been previously painted to maintain the historic look of the building. Measures should be taken to remove old paint from brick to restore the original brick, if applicable. In addition, if repointing must be done to prep the façade, before painting, consult with a mason experienced with using the type of mortar for the age of your building. If the building is metal or has metal components, we recommend consulting with a professional company for cleaning and preparatory work. The following steps below will help smooth the way for a successful paint job on your historic building.
