WHAT'S HAPPENING AT PHUMC?

Parking Lot 2 (the Upper Parking Deck) will be closed from June 22 through early August while we reinforce sections of the concrete. This work will strengthen the deck and extend its life for years to come.

To make Sundays easy during the closure, we've secured overflow parking at War Memorial Stadium (the west lot, closest to Fair Park) on Sundays from June 28 through August 2, 7:30AM-1:00PM.

Do you, or someone you know, have gifts to share in church leadership? We are currently accepting nominations for several Pulaski Heights UMC committees with terms beginning January 1, 2027. Most committees serve three-year terms and meet regularly throughout the year. Whether you’re passionate about finances, supporting our staff, or helping shape the vision of the church, there’s a place for you. Committees like Finance, Staff-Parish Relations, Trustees, and more are looking for faithful and committed leaders. You can nominate yourself or someone else by visiting phumc.com/nominations. The deadline to submit a nomination is Sunday, August 23.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to Rev. Jay Clark at jclark@phumc.com or call the church office at 501-664-3600.

We're thrilled to announce that starting August 8th, we will be offering a Spanish language worship service for our congregation and the broader Central Arkansas community!

Here’s what to know:

• When: The service will take place at 4:00 PM on the Saturday following Distribution Day (the first Wednesday of each month) in Wesley Hall.

• Preacher: Rev. Lupita Chavarria

• Led by our Modern Worship team

• Language: The entire service will be conducted in Spanish

• Communion: Each gathering will include the sacrament of Holy Communion

We need your help. Whether you speak Spanish fluently, are learning, or simply feel called to support this new ministry, there is a place for you. We’re looking for volunteers to greet and usher. Contact Rev. Katye Chambers at kchambers@phumc.com or 501-978-0536 if interested!

This year for our Raney Series, we are doing something a little different. Instead of a guest preacher or presenter, we are going to have a three-night revival.

Methodism was born as a revival movement. For John and Charles Wesley, revival wasn’t a sales pitch for heaven or a performative act. It was the slow, holy work of igniting the church, through the work of the Holy Spirit, to spread what they called “scriptural holiness” across communities. This same revival movement, over generations, helped end slavery, reform prisons, expand education, and open new roles for women in ministry. Revival, at its best, is transformation: of hearts, of congregations, of the world God so loves.

Three nights to gather, sing, pray, listen, and let God do the quiet, persistent work of making us new.

Wednesdays May 20th through June 17th, join Dr. Robbins for his new bible study, One Book-One Night, and learn about books from the Bible that are often overlooked or ignored. Next week, we will review the book of Jude. It will be held from 6:00-7:00PM in Wesley Hall as well as livestreamed. Refreshments provided!

Donuts are on a break this summer, but don't worry, you can take Dale the Donut with you on your summer adventures! Pick up a Dale the Donut cutout at the donut table or Welcome Desk, bring him with you on your adventures, take some photos with him, and tag the church on social media!

Walking the Mourner’s Path is an in-person grief group for anyone who has suffered a significant loss and would like to process it in a group setting. Please note, we recommend you be at least 3 months removed from the death of your loved one to be best served by this particular group. It is Christ-centered, scripturally and spiritually based. Through the 8-week program on Sundays, June 7-July 26, 3:00-5:00PM, mourners learn ways to honor their loved ones, seek spiritual direction, and discover God’s promise of comfort in community!

There is a $60 fee, which goes toward materials.

IN THE COMMUNITY

Arkansas Conference Mission u will be July 29 - August 1 at Hendrix College. Mission u is an opportunity for individuals to study current issues impacting society based on recent mission study topics. It is open to both members and non-members of United Women in Faith. Participants can engage in classes covering three themes: spiritual growth, social issues, and geographic studies. Additionally, there are specific studies available for children and youth. The event aims to foster understanding of the mission of the church in the current world context, with particular attention to the responsibilities of women in fulfilling the church’s mission work. Worship, singing, interest groups, audiovisual presentations, and fellowship events are also part of the Mission u experience.
