WHAT'S HAPPENING AT PHUMC?

We love fall, but we're already dreaming about summer in the youth department. Registration for all summer programs is now open! Any youth at PHUMC will tell you—there is no better way to spend that time than a learning or service trip with our youth group.

Click the link below to register and learn more. Please keep in mind, some of these programs will fill quickly!

Christmas ornaments are officially on sale! This year we have lovely Rose Window Ornaments for $20 each. They may be purchased at the Welcome Desk during office hours (Monday-Thursday, 8:30am-4:30pm; Friday, 8:30am-12:30pm) and on Sunday mornings, 8:30am-12:00pm.

If you are unable to make it in-person, you may request an ornament be mailed to you by emailing mmcmurray@phumc.com. Quantities are limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Past ornaments will also be available for purchase.

Today, October 15th, is Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day. We know that a great many people are affected by the heartbreak of pregnancy and infant loss, and that the grief from this is complex and isolating. Our chapel will be open today from 7-9AM, 11AM-1PM, and 4-6PM for those that want to come pray. We will have a votive station where individuals can light a candle for their child(ren) as well as a prayer card with guided prayers and resources. We hope all will be in prayer for those grieving this day.

Our Annual Charge Conference will be this Sunday, October 18 at noon. The primary responsibilities of the charge conference are to review and evaluate the total mission and ministry of the church, receive reports, and adopt objectives and goals for 2027.

Questions? Contact Rev. Jay Clark at jclark@phumc.com.

The PHUMC Green Team is officially a part of the City of Little Rock's Adopt-A-Street program, which provides an opportunity for civic engagement in removing litter to keep our city beautiful. We have “adopted” the section of Lee Street from Van Buren to Beechwood.

Join the Green Team on Saturday, October 24th for our first official cleanup day! We'll meet at Entrance 1 at 9AM and all supplies will be provided.

Questions? Contact Rev. Katye Chambers at kchambers@phumc.com.

This year Trunk or Treat will be October 25 from 3-5pm in the Lower Parking Deck. This is a great opportunity to come together as a congregation and to serve our community.

These are four ways to get involved:

  • This year, we are planning on expanding our giveaways to more than just candy. We are asking for monetary donations only so that we can provide candy, snacks, and small toys for each trunk. Just go to phumc.com/halloween or write a check with Trunk or Treat in the memo line.
  • Volunteer to be a greeter and a friendly face. You can sign up at phumc.com/tortvolunteer.
  • Come and bring a friend or two with you! Hope to see you there!

Christmas poinsettias ‘in honor of’ or ‘in memory of’ a loved one are available for $20 each, beginning October 25th. They will be placed in the sanctuary during Advent and may be picked up after the 11:00PM Christmas Eve service or from the church on December 29. Orders will close on December 13th and will be listed in the December 20th bulletin as well as the January Tower Newsletter.

You can purchase them by going to phumc.com/poinsettia, calling the church office at 501-664-3600, or filling out the Poinsettia Form at the Welcome desk!

Contact Theresa Smith at tsmith@phumc.com with any questions.

In addition to honoring all of the saints who have passed in the last year and joined the Church Triumphant during Sunday morning worship services for All Saints Sunday, we will have a Service of Remembrance in the Columbarium on Sunday, November 1st from 5:00-5:30PM. We will worship together and remember all of those who have left us.

Questions? Rev. Katie Goss Pearce at kpearce@phumc.com.

Is your child interested in being a part of worship on Sunday mornings? We invite all of our acolytes, both new and returning, to join us for a special Acolyte Training & Pizza Party on Sunday, November 8th, from 3:00–4:00 p.m. in the Sanctuary.

This training is for everyone, including acolytes who have attended training before. For returning acolytes, this is a great opportunity to practice their skills, refresh their knowledge, and grow more comfortable and confident in their role. For those who are new to serving, we will provide everything they need to get started. And this time, we'll make training a little more fun with a pizza party and juice!

We also encourage parents to attend, as this is a great opportunity to learn how you can help support them in this ministry.

After attending training, students can sign up to serve at upcoming worship services by clicking the link below.

Questions? Contact Karsyn Helms at khelms@phumc.com.

We will start working toward one of our favorite traditions of the year — Hanging of the Greens on November 29. This beautiful service is child-led, and our children have a special role in helping our church welcome the Advent season.

We're sending another Medical team to Guatemala this coming January, and we'd love for you to be part of it. We are still looking for a Dentist and a Pharmacist as well as willing helpers: people ready to build relationships, lend a hand wherever it's needed, and share in the work of loving our neighbors.
