Parking Lot 2 (the Upper Parking Deck) is closed through early August while we reinforce sections of the concrete. This work will strengthen the deck and extend its life for years to come.

To make Sundays easier during the closure, we've secured overflow parking at War Memorial Stadium (the west lot, closest to Fair Park) through August, 7:30AM-1:00PM.

We want to give a huge thank you and shoutout to the Guatemala Medical team who just got back from working with Project Salud y Paz! During their trip, they were able to make an incredible impact on the partner communities. Thank you for sharing your skills, your time, and your commitment to providing medical and dental care to those who need it most. They were able to see a total of 354 medical patients and 99 dental patients, along with handing out 525 tubes of toothpaste and 700 toothbrushes donated by PHUMC members and friends. Thank you to everyone who donated!

Do you have an incoming 8th-12th grade student who has a heart and a gift for music, audio/visual technology, and/or worship leading? Join us August 3-5th from 10:00AM-2:00PM for our Youth Worship Camp! Students will spend 3 days growing in their discipleship, bonding in community, and receiving hands-on training in music, A/V, and worship leadership. No experience required! The camp is free of charge and will have drop off/pick up at Entrance 7 outside of Wesley Hall. We will be preparing for a special youth-led night of worship on Wednesday, August 5th at 6 PM.

From July 19–28, 2027, a group from PHUMC will travel to Mwanza, Tanzania for a Service and Learning Trip rooted in partnership with Wesley College, a United Methodist school. We will learn about the school's mission and meet with students. And we'll spend time understanding the ways that education in health, business, communications, and theology is helping transform the Church and the nation.

Is your child interested in being a part of worship on Sunday mornings? We invite them to join us for Acolyte Training on Sunday, August 16th, from 3:00–4:00 p.m. in the Sanctuary. Serving as an acolyte is a meaningful way to participate in worship. Acolytes help begin and end each service, symbolically leading us into worship and then back out into the world to be the light of Christ. It is an important way for young people to serve our church. We are currently in need of additional acolytes for our worship services and would love for your child to be part of this ministry. Whether they are new to serving or simply need a refresher, this training will provide everything they need to feel confident in this role. Wednesday Nights at Pulaski Heights will return on Wednesday, August 19th! We start serving meals for $10/adult at 5:00PM. We have classes and programming for all ages beginning at 6:00PM including Dr. Robbins' Bible Study, small groups, book studies, Children's activities, Youth Bible study, Midyouth, and more! Registration for children’s activities and care is requested to allow us to best prepare staffing and space for your child.

As United Methodists, we have a wonderful and long tradition of giving each 3rd grader their own Bible! We are excited to present our 3rd grade students with their Bibles on Sunday, August 23rd at 9AM in the Classic service or 11AM in the Modern service. This year for our Raney Series, we are doing something a little different. Instead of a guest preacher or presenter, we are going to have a three-night revival.

Methodism was born as a revival movement. For John and Charles Wesley, revival wasn’t a sales pitch for heaven or a performative act. It was the slow, holy work of igniting the church, through the work of the Holy Spirit, to spread what they called “scriptural holiness” across communities. This same revival movement, over generations, helped end slavery, reform prisons, expand education, and open new roles for women in ministry. Revival, at its best, is transformation: of hearts, of congregations, of the world God so loves.

Three nights to gather, sing, pray, listen, and let God do the quiet, persistent work of making us new.

I want to invite you to be a part of something that will create life-long memories. March 29-April 10, 2027, Jay Clark and I will host a Celtic Christianity trip to Ireland. This will be a wonderful opportunity to deepen your faith and see the beauty of God’s creation across the Atlantic, along with others traveling with us.

I am very excited about this trip because it also affords me the privilege of interacting with members of PHUMC in a more informal way, while enjoying the beautiful scenery and food as we enjoy locations that are unique to Ireland, while, at the same time, learning more about our Christian heritage.

The Board of Laity of the Arkansas Conference is hosting a study on The Social Principles on August 8th from 9:30AM-12:00PM on Zoom! Neal Christie will be the speaker and one of the facilitators. The event will begin with a brief devotional by Bishop Merrill, followed by Neal’s presentation. Then, there will be 4 breakout groups, each featuring one of the 4 Pillars of the Principles. They will end as you are sent forth to be better followers of Jesus in a complicated society.

The Social Principles book is available from Cokesbury but is not necessary for this event. This is an exciting offering for anyone who is interested. Click the link below to learn more or register for the event!

Icons in Transformation, an exhibit by the internationally acclaimed artist Ludmila Pawlowska, is now open at the Oasis at St. Margaret’s! From now until November 8th the exhibit will be open for audiences to have an opportunity to explore the icon mystery and its spiritual power transformed into masterpieces of contemporary art.
