IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENTS

Join us this Sunday between services (10:00 AM-11:00 AM) in the Gathering Hall as we celebrate Bev Villines in her retirement! We are so thankful for her ministry here at PHUMC and look forward to celebrating this next chapter with her.

Dear Congregation,

As we celebrate Bev Villines and her formal retirement from the church staff, the work of the Foundation and Senior Adult Ministry never stops!

We are glad to welcome Virginia Porta as Director of the PHUMC Foundation. Having served on the Foundation Board for several years and as the immediate past chair of the Board, Virginia brings a wealth of knowledge and ideas to help the PHUMC Foundation grow into the future. We are excited about her coming on staff.

Rev. Daniel Curry will be the staff person relating to Senior Adult Ministry as part of his work with Dr. Hampton in Caring Ministries.

The Foundation Office will be on the third floor next to the Finance Office, and Rev. Curry will be in Beverly’s old office on the main office floor.

Peace,

Rev. Jay Clark

Executive Pastor, PHUMC

We are looking to expand our team of dedicated members who volunteer to work the front desk at PHUMC.

The main duties are:

1. Being the first smile and saying hello to those who walk in the front door.

2. Answering the phone and directing those calls to the appropriate person.

3. Sorting the mail and placing it in the staff mailboxes in the workroom and signing for packages.

We are currently placing volunteers in two shifts:

8:30am-Noon and 12:30-4:30pm

If this is something you would have interest in, please email Rev. Jay Clark at [email protected]

This summer we are ministry partners with Project Transformation at St. Luke United Methodist Church Pine Bluff. We are needing adult volunteers to read on the morning of July 20th!

If you are interested in signing up, go to phumc.com/pt

How to be a Reading Buddy!

We are in need of volunteers for a few hours on Tuesdays between 9:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. All you need is a BIG heart, the GIFT OF GAB, and compassion for our many family caregivers who need a little time for themselves. We have a devotional, music, therapy dogs, old-time TV shows/movies, a great lunch, and good, old-fashioned visiting!

Vacation Bible Camp Recap!

I just returned from Marketplace 2023! I was blown away and LOVED every minute of this experience! Under the wonderful guidance of Pam Lentz and Kristie Finney, the Great Hall and Wesley Hall were transformed into a replica of a Bethlehem market during the time of Jesus. It truly ran like a real market!! The 12 tribes experienced authentic food, played musical instruments, and created crafts. The crafts included making mosaic tiles, yarn weaving, and experimenting with dying fabric. Songs, stories, and dancing were incorporated to enhance the lessons. Due to the distribution of children across multiple tribes, it was remarkable to witness the calm environment which allowed the children to be receptive to the message being taught each day, and it allowed the opportunity for meaningful discussion. Wow! It was truly humbling to know that during this short time, Marketplace made a spiritual impact on all who attended. I urge you to mark your calendar for Vacation Bible Camp 2024, which will be held June 24th-27th! This is an experience you do not want to miss!

Blessings,

Patti Coleman

Afghan Family Update!

After having a really good school year, these boys are set to have a great summer. The pictures included show them learning how to swim and they all love the water. The two older boys continued their English development during the month of June at LRSD-sponsored Camp Can Do. They will also experience Zoo Camp and art camp, and Amir, the youngest, attended Safety Town. The boys are all becoming more comfortable with their new lives here in Little Rock. And as you can see, baby Aruzu is growing up way too quickly! She loves her big brothers and is a true delight!

Please help them continue their progress by donating to the Afghan fund.
