WHAT'S HAPPENING AT PHUMC?

We want to hear from you—yes you! Our newly-created office of Inclusivity, Accessibility, and Belonging needs everyone to share their insight and input whether or not they require particular assistance from the church. We are seeking to better understand what we already do well, what we could improve, and what we are missing in order to be a congregation that is truly inclusive and accessible for all God's children. If you participate in any part of PHUMC—online or in-person—please take a few minutes to fill out our survey at phumc.com/IAB or click the link below. Your feedback will help shape the direction of this new ministry opportunity.

We are once again looking for some dedicated folks to join our Wakefield Elementary School Team. Reading Buddies meet once a week with individual students. Reading Buddies can be assigned on their chosen day and time period, as well as choosing the grade level of students that best suits them. Go to phumc.com/reading or scan the QR code to sign up and start making a difference! If you have any questions, contact Sarah Argue at wakefieldtutoring@phumc.com.

Wakefield Elementary School is in Southwest Little Rock and 99.5% of students have free/reduced lunch. Our church partners with them via Reading Buddies, supplying their food pantry, school supplies, teacher appreciation, and Christmas gifts.

Join PHMen as we eat together, fellowship, and hear from different speakers about when faith or a spiritual practice has had a positive impact on their life. Tomorrow Joe Kleine, former NBA player, will speak. Click the link below to register.

Join us for One-Room Sunday School this Sunday, September 13. With a congregation of over 4,000, we rarely get the opportunity to come together as a community. This will be a time for us to learn, pray, and celebrate as one body.

We will also have a special unveiling that you won't want to miss!

Join Primetimers as they make another trip to Charlotte's Eats & Sweets! You can RSVP for lunch and van ride by calling the church office, 501-664-3600, signing the Reservation Book at the Welcome Desk, or by going to phumc.com/primetimers.

Please note the date has been changed to Thursday, September 17th.

Walking the Mourner’s Path is an 8 week, in-person grief group for anyone who has suffered a significant loss and would like to process it in a group setting. We recommend you be at least 3 months removed from the death of your loved one to be best served by this particular group. It is Christ-centered, scripturally and spiritually based. The program will take place on Mondays, September 28-November 16 from 6:00-8:00PM. Mourners will learn ways to honor their loved ones, seek spiritual direction, and discover God’s promise of comfort in community!

Click the link below to fill out the interest form. Please note there is a $60 fee which goes toward materials.

School has started, which means that Trunk or Treat is just around the corner! This year Trunk or Treat will be October 25 from 3-5pm in the Lower Parking Deck. This is a great opportunity to come together as a congregation and to serve our community.

These are four ways to get involved:

  • We are currently looking for Sunday School classes, small groups, and individuals to host a trunk or booth. Go to phumc.com/trunks to sign up to host a trunk or a booth.
  • This year, we are planning on expanding our giveaways to more than just candy. We are asking for monetary donations only so that we can provide candy, snacks, and small toys for each trunk. Just go to phumc.com/halloween or write a check with Trunk or Treat in the memo line.
  • Volunteer to be a greeter and a friendly face. You can sign up at phumc.com/tortvolunteer.
  • Come and bring a friend or two with you! Hope to see you there!

We're sending another Medical team to Guatemala this coming January, and we'd love for you to be part of it. You don't need any special training or medical background to make a difference on this trip—our medical team is already set. What we need now are willing helpers: people ready to build relationships, lend a hand wherever it's needed, and share in the work of loving our neighbors.

If you're interested, contact Rev. Katye Chambers at kchambers@phumc.com
