Hanging of the Greens

We will celebrate the beginning of the Advent Season with a special all-ages "Hanging of the Greens Service" in the sanctuary. This will be on Sunday, Dec. 3 at 5:00 p.m. A Cookie and Hot Chocolate Reception will follow! We invite families and individuals to help us decorate a Chrismon tree for the season of Advent.

The word “Chrismon” is a combination of the words “Christ” and “monogram”. The Chrismon tree will be decorated with light, and ornaments of white, gold, and silver symbols of the life of Christ. Ornament kits and instructions can be picked up at the Welcome Desk. Wakefield Christmas

Want an opportunity to bring Christmas cheer to a family? Here’s your chance! PHUMC will once again be sponsoring over 200 Wakefield Elementary children for Christmas,

and we need 20 sponsors! Sponsors are responsible for purchasing items on the lists these children and their siblings have prepared! Sponsor packets will be mailed the weekend before Thanksgiving, and gifts are due back to the church on Sunday, December 10th. If you would like to sign up, please email Nancy Delacerda at ndelacerda@comcast.net, and let her know how many children you would like to sponsor and what address you would like the packet mailed to. We had such a wonderful time on Sunday with our Preschool Family Playdate! We enjoyed some free play, a group game of “name that animal”, snacks, and fun parachute play activities. We all had a great time making and playing with old and new friends. We are in need of a teacher for the Telephone Sunday School class on the first Sunday of each month. All materials will be mailed to you, and you just need to be willing to lead the lesson/discussion. This is an important ministry that allows folks who are homebound to participate in Sunday School every week at 3:00PM. For more information, contact Rev. Abbey Maynard at amaynard@phumc.com.

PHUMC Clothing Closet

Our Clothing Closet volunteers have been very busy! We've had 227 volunteer hours in the last 6 months sorting the thousands of clothes that have been donated. We've also been able to donate over 100 boxes of clothes to Dorcas House, Women and Children First, St. Francis House, Our House, Compassion Center, Civitan Services, The Van, Stewpot Mission, Union Rescue Mission, Live Thankfully, UALR, UCA, and Quapaw Quarter UMC.
