VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR COMMUNITY CONNECTIONS

PHUMC is partnering with Community Connections, a local non-profit that offers free activities to people with special needs. We are hosting the “Teen Game Group” every Thursday from 6:00-7:30 PM in Wesley Hall from September 22-November 17. All volunteers would be asked to do is be a “buddy” to a participant and get to know them. If you are interested in volunteering, or want to know more information, you can sign up on the Community Connections website or contact Sterling Gentry at [email protected] or 501-772-4522.

Ministry of Pilgrimage 2023

Interested in group travel with your church family (& friends)? The PHUMC Ministry of Pilgrimage offers a rotation of journeys focusing on our faith. Every third year, we focus on community and fellowship. In November of 2023 (November 8-16), we will be boarding a AmaWaterways River Cruise sailing from Basil, Switzerland to Amsterdam, the Netherlands. TRUNK OR TREAT

Join us on Sunday, October 30th from 3-5PM on the Upper Parking Deck (parking lot 2) for our 2nd Annual Trunk or Treat! We are looking for Sunday School classes, small groups and individuals to open their “trunks” and distribute candy to children who stop by to trick or treat! There will be games, lots of candy, a hay maze, and tons of fun!

WEDNESDAY NIGHTS @ PULASKI HEIGHTS

Wednesday Nights at Pulaski Heights are back! Join us next week! Meals are available from 5:15-5:55PM; under 18 eat free, 18 and above pay $10. We’ll have classes, book studies, Bible studies, and small groups! This week's meal will be a taco bar from Blue Coast Burrito. We are so happy to bring back the Raney Series this Fall! Join us at 6PM on Saturday, October 22nd at the Clinton Library! We will hear about “How to be the Church in a Post-Pandemic World” from Dr. John McKellar and Dr. Todd Renner from White’s Chapel United Methodist Church in Southlake, Texas. White’s Chapel is the largest UMC in the United States. Dinner will be served (southern comfort food prepared by 42) and everything will be free of charge! ACOLYTES NEEDED! 


Does your child want to participate in worship? Classic worship is looking for acolytes (3rd grade and up). Acolytes bring in the holy flames on the altar at the beginning of worship, and carry them out at the close of worship. If your student is interested, sign up by going to phumc.com/acolyte!

Join our all new Intergenerational Sunday School, called Crossroads, beginning THIS SUNDAY Sept. 18 from 10:10-10:50 AM in M318. This Sunday school class will learn and be in mission together to share in our Wesleyan Faith! Led by Susan Robbins and Carol Foster, Crossroads will have storytelling, devotionals, Bible and book study, speakers, social gatherings and perform mission projects together! Interested in joining? Our Family Ministries team is looking for candy for our Annual Trunk-or-Treat! We need individually wrapped candy to give out. SUNDAY SCHOOL

Sunday School

We offer Sunday School for all ages on Sundays from 10:10-10:50AM.

  • Children (4th grade and under)
  • Infant/Toddler and Preschool childcare is offered throughout the morning
  • Children’s Sunday School is from 10:10-10:50am
  • Preschool classes meet on the bottom floor of the Norma Story Building.
  • Kindergarten through 4th grade meet on the top floor of the Norma Story Building
  • Youth (5th-12th) - Meet in the youth lounge on the 3rd floor above Wesley Hall.
  • Adults - We have many different classes you can attend! Find the class that's right for you at phumc.com/sundayschool
  • Telephone Class - 3pm on Sundays, call in using 501-748-7664!

MISSIONS

FOOD PANTRY SETS A RECORD!

Our PHUMC Food Pantry had our biggest month ever! Last week we distributed 152 bags to 109 families, including 29 new families! You may leave donations for the Food Pantry at the Donation Station outside Entrance 7 or bring them to the front desk at Entrance 1! If you'd prefer to give a monetary donation, go to phumc.com/giveonline or write a check with the memo "Food Pantry".

SPIRIT OF ARKANSAS DIAPER DRIVE

For the third year in a row, the Diaper Bank is teaming up with Edward's Food Giant and KATV (Channel 7) for the Spirit of Arkansas Diaper Drive. To participate, you can drop off diapers at select Edward's locations or bring them to front desk or the Donation Station at PHUMC!

We are hoping to surpass our total from last year and collect over 34,000 diapers during the month of September! Learn more at phumc.com/diaperbank!

Afghan Family Update

Dedication and boundless love are the words to describe the five team members on the baby arrival committee. While other members carried out their regular work of transporting folks to the hospital and school, these five helped welcomed our family's first daughter and first American citizen! Baby girl was born Friday at 3:07 AM.....
