June 18th - 22nd is Take Your Pet to Work Week, and businesses are encouraged to participate!

The week kicks off with #meowmonday and wraps up with #takeyourdogtoworkday. Studies show that having pets at the office lead to a more creative environment, better productivity and co-workers who get along better. If those aren't good reasons to take your kitty or pup to work, we don't know what is!

When approaching your employer, make sure you have a plan for your pet. Pet Sitters International has been promoting #takeyourdogtoworkday for years and has some great advice on the do's and dont's of animals in the office.

- This  toolkit includes information on how to safely host an animal in the office.
- TYPTWDay is also a fun way to gain exposure! Download a  sample press release to tailor to your business, and share with local media and/or on social media.
- Since dogs aren't in the office everyday, your office may not have a work policy regarding animals.  Click here  to download a sample "dog at work" policy.
- Finally, make sure your coworkers are informed of your dog's temperament by hanging this door sign

If you can't have animals in the office, consider donating to our pets here at the Cheyenne Animal Shelter! Businesses that raise at least $100 will receive a thank you certificate from the Cheyenne Animal Shelter to display and recognition in our newsletter, which is published two times a year and distributed to 5,000 people. A great way to raise some cash is by donating money collected from "wear blue jean days."

*** Please note your donation as Take Your Pet to Work Week when making your donation in-person or online. ***
The Cheyenne Animal Shelter is adding a twist to bring your pet to work day.
Now you can participate in Invite a Shelter Pet to Work Day!
For a $100 donation, a Cheyenne Animal Shelter staff member will bring a kitten, cat, puppy, or dog to your office during Take Your Pet to Work Week. It's a great time to ask staff any questions about the variety of animals in our care and how people can help!

Spots are limited to 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. in the morning and 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. in the afternoon, Monday through Friday, however if you have a special request you can contact the Shelter Manager, Stephanie Bilbro at sbilbro@caswy.org or by calling 307-212-5317 for more information.

To participate please contact Stephanie as soon as possible to get your business on the schedule! Please make sure that your employer has agreed to have an animal in the office on the day you reserve.
We don't know much about Alex and Justine. The pair were dropped off at the Shelter over night with no information other than their names - "Ugly Dog 1" and "Ugly Dog 2."

When the pups first came in, they were severely matted. They were very timid around people and not quite sure how they felt about being touched. However, in the short time these ladies have been at the Shelter, we've seen a complete change. They've gotten new names, a new hair-do, and they now look forward to walks and playtime.

Alex and Justine like to be together, but they aren't necessarily looking to go to the  same home. They're just looking for a  good home, with someone who will give them a lap to sit on and tell them they're beautiful every day.

Kitten season has arrived at the Cheyenne Animal Shelter.

Currently, we have about 60 kittens who are too young to go on to their forever homes just yet, with more coming in our doors daily. We're looking for foster parents to help care for these kitties until they can be adopted!

Fostering is easy! The Shelter provides necessary items for the animals, so you don't have to worry about the cost. All you have to worry about is getting too many cuddles!

If you're interested in becoming a foster, please contact our Foster Coordinator, Rheva, at rcliff@caswy.org or by calling  307-213-3058.

The Cheyenne Animal Shelter has a booth at Bart's Flea Market.

When you walk in, our booth is located on the far left side of the store about halfway down the aisle on the right side. All of the money raised at the booth goes to the care of the animals at the Shelter.

We know some of you know about the booth and thank you for shopping! We're starting to run low on items and are now looking for donations.

If you would like to donate, please be mindful items need to be in working condition. You can drop off donations at the Cheyenne Animal Shelter between 11 am and 4 pm. Please let staff know it is for the Shelter's booth at Bart's.

Items that have done well in the past:
  • Old posters and metal signs
  • Unusual, vintage or collectible type items
  • Beanie Babies
  • Jewelry
  • Western/Native American items
Bart's Flea Market is located at 415 W. Lincolnway and is generally open from 10 am to 6 pm on weekdays and Saturday and Sunday from 12 to 5 pm.
Thinking about adopting a pet? Congratulations! You'll be in for an exciting and fun time which can change your life for better (or for worse if you're not fully prepared!).   The reason why some pet adoptions do not go well is due to unrealistic expectations and lack of research.  This month's blog talks about what you should consider before taking home a new friend.
Thank you Rotaract Cheyenne
The organization came out to the Shelter to do an overall day of service - repairing fences, doing dishes, and prepping our shed to be painted. They say they chose the Cheyenne Animal Shelter because a few new members mentioned an interest in our organization, and they all love animals!

If your business or organization would like to come volunteer for an afternoon, we'd love to have you! Contact the Volunteer Coordinator, Stephanie Bilbro at  sbilbro@caswy.org .
