Reminder: Take the Village's Community Survey | | The Village’s community survey is underway! In partnership with ETC Institute, the Village is inviting all Lindenhurst households to share feedback on Village services, programs, and initiatives. Households will receive the survey by mail, with the option to respond by mail or online.
Your input is valuable in helping the Village evaluate services, establish priorities, and guide decisions about future programs and resource allocation. The survey is anonymous and confidential, and resident feedback will help shape the Village’s priorities for years to come.
This is the Village’s third community survey, following previous surveys in 2018 and 2022. To learn more about the survey and review results from past surveys, visit www.lindenhurstil.org/communitysurvey.
| | Village Recognizes Resident with Junior Lifesaver Award | | |
At the Village Board Meeting on September 28, the Village was pleased to recognize Levi Fuchs with a Junior Lifesaver Award.
Earlier this summer, while swimming in a backyard pool, Levi noticed that his five-year-old friend was underwater and not breathing. Without hesitation, Levi dove in and brought his friend to nearby adults. A witness recognized the child was choking on food and dislodged the obstruction, allowing him to breathe again.
Levi's quick thinking and willingness to help in an emergency played an important role in getting his friend to safety. Way to go Levi!

| | | Lake Shore Drive FAU Reconstruction Project Update | | |
The Village is pleased to announce the substantial completion of Phase 1 of the Lake Shore Drive Reconstruction Project. Improvements included transforming the previously rural roadway, with its gravel shoulders and ditches, into an urban roadway with curb and gutter. The project also widened the roadway, improved stormwater drainage, and added new sidewalks connecting Beck Road to Rolling Ridge Lane. These enhancements improve pedestrian connectivity and provide residents with safer, more accessible routes through the area.
Crews may still be on-site completing restoration work; however, both lanes are open to traffic.

- Inspect Treats: Wait until you’re home to allow an adult to examine candy for any signs of tampering before eating.
- Use Sidewalks: Walk on sidewalks where possible, or stay close to the curb and face traffic if sidewalks are unavailable.

As leaves continue to fall, keep them out of storm drains. When leaves accumulate in drains, they can block water flow and increase the risk of localized flooding. As leaves decompose, they release phosphorus and other nutrients that can harm watersheds.
Residents have several options for responsibly disposing of leaves:
Village Yardwaste Collection: The Village offers free leaf collection from October 12 through November 23. To learn more about this program and how to participate, please visit the Village website at www.lindenhurstil.org/garbageservices.
Sustainable Alternatives: Residents can leave leaves on their lawn and mow over them to naturally fertilize their lawn. Residents can also use leaves in gardens as mulch or add them to compost to enrich the soil.
