January 2025 News & Notes

Can you believe it’s Year 2025?

Greetings fellow and prospective NLF members and welcome to next quarter century! It seems like yesterday we were all celebrating the final day of 1999 fretting about whether our computers were going to crash with Y2K. Fast forward, let’s do this 2025!

Welcome to NLF’s 2025 edition and as you’ll see from this newsletter, we are off and running. But first I’d like to congratulate and thank 2024 NLF Chair RaDonna Hessel for a fantastic year leading NLF to new heights. Many of you know RaDonna as the CEO of the Grapevine Chamber of Commerce, where her leadership and enthusiasm inspired not only the NLF board but its members and event attendees. Thank you RaDonna!

Moving on to 2025, we are excited to share the following exciting news, events and calendar!

National Medal of Honor Museum CEO Chris Cassidy

Headlines Annual Awards Luncheon

We’re excited to announce Chris Cassidy, President and CEO of National Medal of Honor Museum will be our featured speaker for this years Annual Awards Luncheon.

In August 2021, the Board of Directors for the National Medal of Honor Museum Foundation selected Mr. Cassidy to be President and CEO, where he now leads the project to build the iconic Museum, Monument, and Institute.

From humble beginnings in the upper Northeast, he chose a life of service to country. First, as an elite Navy SEAL and then as NASA's Chief Astronaut.

Scheduled to open on March 25, 2025, the National Medal of Honor Museum is a museum that honors United States Armed Forces Medal of Honor recipients. The location was announced on October 4, 2019, concluding a 5-year, nationwide competition that included Denver, New York City, San Diego, and Washington, D.C. It is projected to cost $150 million.

This year’s NLF Awards Luncheon is being chaired by Marcia Etie. She and her committee are working hard to provide a memorable lunch experience. They ask that you please place the date on your team’s calendar for April 4, 2025, 11:30 – 1:15 at the Hurst Conference Center. You will soon see opportunities for event and table sponsorships, along with additional event details.
