Stepping Up To The Plate

Grab, Play, Go: We are committed to free play and encouraging kids to get outside and be active. We're excited to continue stocking Free Play Boxes at select Fishers Parks. We fill the boxes with new and gently used equipment so that kids and adults alike can show up to a park and have a catch or try a new sport in a low pressure environment. Find them at Holland, Cytheanne and Cumberland Park and the Nickle Plate Amp!

When it comes to scoliosis, early detection makes a difference.

Scoliosis is common in children, and early screening and intervention can help prevent pain and support better outcomes. Learn more from the pediatric orthopedic experts with Riley Children’s Health on the importance of screening and early care here.

A Note From The Executive Director

Summer is always a good reminder to take a deep breath as a family. Don’t get too caught up with summer sports camps and travel tournaments that you forget to catch lightning bugs and watch fireworks! Neighborhood games of tag can be a lot of fun and roasting marshmallows around the campfire can be, too. Whatever makes your summer most relaxing, I hope you get to do it.

Cadence Biersdorf - Baseball

As our April DICK'S Volunteer of the Month, Cadence stepped up to take the reins on coordinating Opening Day, no small task for an event with this much history, energy, and expectation behind it. Alongside an incredible committee, she helped create an unforgettable experience for our rec players and families to kick off the season. From the player parades and appearances by high school cheerleaders and mascots to community vendors, activities, food, speeches, and all the little details in between… Opening Day felt big in all the best ways. Events like this don’t happen without volunteers who care deeply about creating memories and building community through youth sports. Cadence’s leadership, creativity, and volunteer spirit helped make the day one families will remember long after the final inning.

Scott Thomas - Boys Lacrosse

Congratulations to Scott Thomas, our May DICK'S Sporting Goods Volunteer of the Month! As President of Mudsock Boys Lacrosse, Scott leads with vision, humility, and a genuine commitment to serving others. He has helped grow the sport, strengthen the league experience for families, and has become a trusted sounding board across the entire Mudsock Youth Athletics community. The volunteer who nominated Scott shared:

"Our league and community are immensely better because of the countless hours Scott has dedicated to us." We couldn't agree more. Scott has a unique ability to bring people together, find solutions, and keep the focus where it belongs, creating great experiences for kids. His leadership continues to make a positive impact far beyond the lacrosse field.
