Behind the Scenes:
Meet Our Packing & Bagging Team
| |
|
Have you ever wondered how all of our beautiful decorative tins are filled with scrumptious treats? Or how our Whittles tins, pouches and Roasted-n-Shell burlap sacks are filled?
It’s all done – by hand – by our Packing & Bagging Team. Lead by Yvonne Holcomb and 2 year-round employees, the team meticulously hand-packs each product ensuring our high-quality standards are met for taste, freshness, and presentation. As Yvonne likes to say, “We make all the pretty stuff!”. Each season, the Packing and Bagging Team adds a crew of seasonal employees, many of whom come back year after year.
So, the next time you open a tin of Whittles, enjoy a few Roasted-n-Shell peanuts, or receive one of our treat-filled tins, we hope you think about the dedicated folks on our Packing and Bagging Team!

And the Winner is...Whitley's! | |
|
Whitley’s 2024 Spring, Summer, and Holiday catalogs received special recognition from Graphic Design USA (GDUSA) for outstanding design. The GDUSA has long presented competitions that focus on areas of growth and opportunity for creative professionals. Their annual award program - also know as the America Graphic Design Awards - is their original end-of-the-year best-of-year flagship. Open to the entire design community, it recognizes excellence in two dozen categories.
From over 8,000+ entries, less than 10 percent are recognized….including Whitley’s! A special thanks to our design partner, Christy Keeler from PAiGEDESiGN, for her outstanding catalog design!

Peanuts…They’re Not Just Delicious.
They’re Good for You Too!
| |
|
Who knew such a small peanut could pack so much punch when it comes to healthy snacking? Lots has been written about the health benefits of nuts with almonds, walnuts, and cashews getting much of the acclaim. But what many don’t know is that peanuts have many of the same health benefits.
In a nutshell (pun intended 😊) peanuts are good for you! A recent medically reviewed article on WebMd.com explored how incorporating peanuts into your diet can positively impact your health and your life, including:
Heart Health, Weight Control, Reduced Diabetes Risk, Reduced Inflammation, Nutrition
So, the next time you pop open a tin of Whitley’s “Home-Cooked” Virginia Peanuts, give yourself a pat on the back. You’ve not only chosen to enjoy the most delicious peanuts around; you're also choosing to make a positive impact on your overall health!
Happy Snacking!

Employee Recipe:
Pam’s Favorite Stir-Fry
| |
|
Stir-Fry is one of my go-to dishes. There’s no wrong way to make one - just add the ingredients that appeal to you on any given night. It’s quick, economical, and oh-so delicious. But, since starting at Whitley’s, I discovered how adding our Salted Virginia Peanuts to my stir-fry dishes elevates them to the next level!
Ingredients
Whitley’s “Home-Cooked” Virginia Peanuts
Red Bell Peppers
Snow Peas
Scallions
Cabbage (Red or Green)
Broccoli
Red Onion
Garlic
Ginger
Add your preferred oil to the pan, allow it to heat up and toss in your ingredients. Stir frequently until the veggies are done to your preferred level of crunchiness.
Note: I prefer not to add sauce but if you’re the “saucy” type, you can find different options in the international aisle of your local grocery store such as soy, teriyaki, or oyster sauces. Add it at the end before removing from heat.
Serve over rice or noodles.
Enjoy!
