SPORTS TIPS
 ST. VINCENT SPORTS PERFORMANCE
Conditioning for the Young Athlete
Conditioning is a component of sports and physical fitness for athletes of all ages. Training may positively influence athletic performance and also help prevent injuries. As competitive levels increase in younger age groups, it is important that parents and coaches are knowledgeable about proper conditioning programs and know when to rest athletes to prevent unnecessary, avoidable injuries. Below are a few tips to keep in mind when getting young athletes ready for an upcoming season.

FROM THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
Celebrating our Volunteers!
We had a blast celebrating National Volunteer Week last week by visiting coaches at practice and games and thanking them with some sweet treats from our friends at Taylor’s Bakery. If you didn’t see any of the photos, you can check them out on our Facebook: www.facebook.com/SPORTSHSE . A BIG THANK YOU to all of our volunteers in our programs including the ones we couldn’t meet during this past week.

The fact of the matter is that every week should be National Volunteer Week at S.P.O.R.T.S. because we have so many incredible volunteers. One week is not enough to cover all the great things being accomplished by them. Did you know that we have over 2,000 adults that volunteer in some capacity between our 12 leagues? We have hundreds of folks who volunteer to coach not one, not two, but three times a year during our three seasons. We even have some really dedicated volunteers who do double duty by coaching and serving on their respective league boards. When you start to calculate how many hours are put into running these programs, it becomes very clear why we are the largest volunteer organization in Fishers and one of the largest youth sports organizations in the state.
