The Global Television Network, Canada’s top English-language TV network, recently interviewed Bryan Bartsch, President and CEO of Ecotex and ARTA Board Member. The prime-time segment highlighted the importance of reducing hospital waste, including personal protective equipment (PPE) like disposable isolation gowns.
The broadcast showcased footage from Ecotex Healthcare Linen Service, an ARTA member, at their laundry facility in Abbotsford, British Columbia, where thousands of reusable isolation gowns are processed daily. The May 9 evening broadcast also mentioned that Canada’s government-run healthcare system is encouraging suppliers to adopt more sustainable practices. Bryan Bartsch emphasized Ecotex's efforts to collaborate with suppliers to extend the service life of reusable textiles. "We have focused a lot on innovating with our suppliers and finding ways that we can have longer-lasting, more functional textiles," he stated during the segment.
Bryan added, "This drives decision-making for companies like ours to step up and be part of the solution to make healthcare more sustainable in the future."
