Denver Day of Inspiration

On Monday, November 6, Agudah of Colorado organized a grand Day of Inspiration with Rabbi Zev Cohen from Chicago, Rav of Adas Yeshurun and Rosh Kollel of the Choshen Mishpat Kollel. In one packed day, Rabbi Cohen toured the community institutions, including Yeshiva Toras Chaim, Hillel Academy of Denver, and Bais Yaakov High School of Denver, and enjoyed a special lunch meeting with the local Vaad HaRabbonim. Wherever he went, Rabbi Cohen raised spirits and offered warm words of chizuk. 

Although a day with Rabbi Cohen would be momentous at any time, this Day of Inspiration was especially meaningful in light of the situation in Eretz Yisroel and around the world. 

The Day of Inspiration was in conjunction with Agudah's Siyum Seder Nashim, which occurred later that day.

Community-Wide Daf Yomi Siyum on Seder Nashim

Through Agudah of Colorado, the Jewish community united in a magnificent Siyum marking Daf Yomi’s accomplishment of completing Seder Nashim. In light of the current situation, the program seamlessly combined both the great simcha of the occasion and the raw emotions surrounding this difficult time in Eretz Yisroel. The keynote speaker, Rav Zev Cohen of Chicago, traveled to Denver especially for this momentous gathering and his impassioned words of chizuk and inspiration were exactly what the community needed to hear. The beautiful presentations, delicious dinner, and joyous dancing blended together to create an a tangible ambience of unity and simcha that was uplifting to all.

Aurora Advocacy: Standing Strong Against Hate

In anticipation of a large pro-Hamas demonstration before the proposed pro-Israel resolution scheduled to be voted on by the Aurora City Council on October 23, Agudah connected with Mayor Mike Coffman and Councilmember Danielle Jurinsky together with Rabbi David Arayev and Aurora community leaders to discuss safety concerns for the Jewish community. Agudah also coordinated representation from the Jewish community to join the City Hall meeting. In a room filled with hatred, a few Jews stood up with a clear voice of reason, including Rabbi Kaplan and constituents Mr. Dan Kopelman, Mr. Jay Moskowitz, and his daughter Dr. Shevie Kassai, among others.

Making Our Voice Heard in Aurora

As Aurora's mayoral election approached on November 7th, Agudah of Colorado set up shop in Ohr Avner to assist community members in voting and registering to vote. One participant, born in 1942, registered to vote for the first time in his life because of the Agudah Voting Project.

When a community votes, elected officials like the Mayor and Councilmembers pay attention to the needs of that community. Making our voice heard during elections allows us to stay connected to our officials throughout their term in office and garner their support for issues that impact us as Jews. Especially during such a challenging time for the Jewish People, it is vital that we vote.

First Annual Communal Police Thanksgiving Lunch

Police officers in District 1 were thrilled when Agudah coordinated and worked with the West Side community leadership and over 30 community members to bring a Thanksgiving lunch down to the station. The first of an annual tradition, the lunch was a way to express heartfelt gratitude to the police for their hard work and especially for being on call and away from their families on a national holiday like Thanksgiving. The work of these brave and selfless officers is critical to the safety and well-being of our communities, and we are grateful for their service.



Special thanks to Rabbi Mordechai Fleisher, Rav of Cong. Zera Avraham, and Rabbi Ahron Y. Wasserman, CEO of Yeshiva Toras Chaim, for helping arrange this memorable event, and to the West Side families who contributed a dish or two to the potluck.
