In a landmark rule change by the Arizona Supreme Court, Arizona became the first state to eliminate the century-old practice of peremptory juror challenges. Emergency cooling centers and water distribution areas were established throughout Maricopa County during the summer for those who do not have access to indoor cooling systems.
