Burg Simpson shareholders Michael Burg, Holly Kammerer, and David Crough recently fought for and secured a seven-figure settlement for a client with a catastrophic personal injury case. The client was severely injured while on the job and suffered life-altering injuries due to the negligence of his employer.
As a result of working in an unsafe environment, our client sustained devastating injuries. His treating physicians have determined that he is likely facing a future that will limit his mobility, and his impairment will require decades of additional treatment.
In the years that followed our client’s hospitalization and numerous surgeries, Mike, Holly, and David fought to protect him and his future. Ultimately, and prior to trial, the Burg Simpson team was successful in their negotiations and secured a significant settlement on our client's behalf.

ARBITRATION AS AN

Although the courts have resumed their operations (many in a limited fashion) after being shuttered by the COVID-19 pandemic, most courts are still experiencing a significant backlog of civil cases. As a result of the volume of legal disputes, some courts are scheduling civil jury trials one year out or even longer. Many lawsuits from 2020 have been continued at least once due to COVID-19, and some have experienced multiple continuances.
In addition to the logjam on the court’s dockets, another unfortunate side effect of the pandemic has been the increase in business and commercial disputes. Legal matters regarding contracts, payments, and employment are often accompanied by the demand for a jury trial.
