Children's Ministry
By Jill DeCent, Children's Ministry Coordinator

I have  been missing church so much, and all the wonderful things that come with it-like our families and children! We will continue to post Sunday school lesson material on the website through May 24th, as Sunday school ends for the summer months. We will focus on getting families back to church in a safe way as we enter into Summer, and so I ask for all your prayers in this process. Our VBS program is to be determined, as we explore different options, so we may adhere to any guidance that we
are given. More details to come in the future. Please continue some of the more simpl e ways to keep your children in faith at home-Dinner time prayers, Bed time prayers, songs, online church, etc. Look for updates and resources on our Facebook page as well.  As parents, be kind to your selves, and know that you are doing an amazing job! It's certainly a very different way of life, for both adults and children. God is in control, and will lead and guide us each and every day. Let Summer commence!

Note: Jill is providing a message for families and children as part of the worship service each Sunday. Make sure to go to Immanuel's website to watch the video.

Youth Ministry
by Tammy Freeburg, Youth Ministry Coordinator

I wo old like to meet with the youth throughout the summer. Seeing how things change day to day, I have no idea what that will look like!?!?  Maybe meeting outside, going  hiking, swimming out for ice cream  we could really have some fun with it, depending on how organized we can be with rides,  help with adult supervision, parents' permission and good weather!
What better way to share with each other about how good the Lord is!!

This is the day the  Lord has brought about.  We will be happy and rejoice in it. Psalm 118:24

Some of the Immanuel's youth helped with food distribution from the food truck in the church parking lot on Thursday, May 14th.

Meal With A Mission

Immanuel will have a Meal With A Mission on Sunday May 17 from 11:00am to 1:00pm.  This month's meal will benefit the Lunch Bunch program - providing bag lunches for children in the community during the summer months. For this Meal With A Mission you can drive down the alley at church and pick up a bag lunch and make a freewill donation.  It will work best if everyone drives down the alley coming from the High School, heading east.  The first 100 people will be served.
Worship At Home

I love November!! November is the month of gratitude. Gratitude for family, friends, and our festive annualSpirit of Christmas bazaar!! This event has a reputatuion of being a huge success, bringing inshoppers from miles around! The profits from the bazaar have, in the past, been distributed to local charities, as well as global missions, which benefit greatly from these donations.

Our 2020 Spirit of Christmas Bazaar is scheduled for Saturday, November 14. A Meal with a Mission, to help fund bazaar expenses,  is scheduled for August 16, 2020. Please mark your calendars!

This annual event has enjoyed success due to the cooperation and efforts of many existing committees.  These committees WELCOME new members and new ideas!  The committees begin meeting as a whole in early September, with several individuals and church members making crafts and bazaar items all summer.

There are numerous committees that make the bazaar a collaborative effort. Perhaps you would be interested in coming on board. With the number of committees to choose from, there's bound to be one that sparks your  interest.  Committees to consider joining are the Children's Shop Stop, Confections, Lefse making, bake sale, raffle tickets, wreath making, Sweet shop,  Kitchen duty making rolls and coffee, publicity, cashiering, Meal with a Mission, hauling and setting up  display furniture, bazaar set-up and take-down. People of all ages and talents are welcome, including our youth, and men!!

Even though the bazaar is a few months away, careful consideration now would be a good time to get ideas percolating, and perhaps decide on a committee that you would enjoy joining.  Also, you may have extra buttons, ribbons, pine cones, fabric, burlap, pipe cleaners, rope, dried florals, artificial pine boughs or unused artificial Christmas trees, crafty embellishments, etc., that could be donated. Hold on to anything that could be used to make an item crafty, unique and beautiful.  Also consider donations that a child would want to "purchase" for his/her parents in the Children's Shop Stop.

These days are uncertain with our current virus pandemic, but it may be beneficial for our mental health to keep focused on things that remain constant.  Our prayer is that our church can be somewhat back to normal by this fall, and that our Spirit of Christmas bazaar can be sustained, even celebrated, our Lord willing.

Please know that you can contact Nancy Nyvold at 612-804-4917 or Karen DeBoer at 763-442-0755 with questions, ideas,  and/or your desire to join a committee!
