Joining Forces in Charlotte County

Loveland Center Port Charlotte recently hosted the Charlotte County Sheriff's Office Crisis Intervention Training (CIT) class, where 22 deputies spent two hours learning about Loveland's programs and the individuals they serve with intellectual and developmental disabilities. This marks the fourth CIT training that Loveland has participated in, and the ongoing partnership with the Charlotte County Sheriff's Office and Charlotte Behavioral Health Care highlights their commitment to providing the best community care possible for individuals with special needs. We are thrilled to see the positive impact of this collaboration and look forward to more opportunities to work together in the future.

Center Spotlights

Meet Tiffany who attends our North Port location. Tiffany is our Spotlight on Success participant of the month. She has shown growth in the areas of communicating her wants and needs. Tiffany is very helpful to her peers during activities, especially at lunch. She not only gets others’ lunch boxes but will open and set out their lunches. Tiffany keeps us on our toes about cleaning as well. She never has to be reminded to complete her job. We are proud of your success!

We are thrilled to share the exciting progress made by Kaitlin in her communication skills! Kaitlin has been using pictures to communicate her wants and needs to staff and peers, which has resulted in a significant improvement in her ability to express herself. This visual language has helped bridge the communication gap, ensuring that her needs are met while promoting her autonomy and self-confidence. We applaud Kaitlin's hard work and determination in achieving this milestone, and we look forward to seeing her continued growth and success. Keep up the great work, Kaitlin!

Spotlight on HERO

HERO (Helping Everyone Realize Opportunities ) North Port is proud of Natalia for always being a great friend to her peers. She helps her peers engage in activities by assisting them with art projects or even sitting on the floor and playing a game. She is a great role model with communication and letting staff know her wants and needs. Way to go Natalia!

If you or someone you know is looking for an inclusive after-school program and is interested in learning more about HERO please email enrollment@lovelandcenter.org or call (941)493-0016.
