Hello All,

Such a super September! As we end another busy month, we are grateful for the wonderful support of our RTMC community. We welcomed new RTMC Board Member, Omar Elrahimy, Founder & CEO of the Optimum Group, as well as Shelby Badger, our new AmeriCorps Client Outreach Coordinator. We organized our first community She Builds project, hosted a GEICO corporate giveback day, held our first in-person RTMC Board meeting since the start of the pandemic, and completed critical home repairs for our 34th client family in need.

October looks to be just as busy. Our annual RTMC Golf Tournament will take place on Monday, October 3rd and we look forward to welcoming 150+ golfer and supporters to help raise funds to provide even more critical home repairs to vulnerable homeowners.

Our goal this fiscal year is to serve 180 families in need. We simply can’t do it without you so thank you for partnering with RTMC. Together, we can help vulnerable families remain safe and healthy in their own homes.

With gratitude,

Please join in welcoming Shelby Badger, our new RTMC AmeriCorps Client Outreach Coordinator. Shelby joined us in early September and we are thrilled to have her on the team. "Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it's the only thing that ever has." ~Margaret Mead

Our community She Builds, led by Beki Mitiku, RTMC AmeriCorps Volunteer Coordinator, was a huge success and we are so grateful to the 25 women volunteers who came out to help our neighbors in need at Stepping Stones Shelter. These gals crushed it and truly did it all: sanded and painted (2 coats!) of the huge front porch and railings, completely rebuilt and painted the children's playhouse, build and painted two new picnic tables and sanded and repainted other picnic tables and benches, built and hung new shed doors and painted the sheds, and repaired an existing play structure. Wow! And all in record time we might add! Special thanks to Presenting Sponsor Whiting-Turner Contracting Company, as well as Donohoe Construction Company, Korth Construction, Shapiro & Duncan, and Lance Wolin. Also grateful to for in-kind support from Sherwin-Williams, Transformation Contractor LLC, United Rentals Starbucks Flower Hill, Chick-fil-A, Ledo Pizza Derwood, and Jean Sperling

GEICO Team Helps a 99-Year-Old Homeowner!

Immense gratitude to the 25+ GEICO volunteers who came out to help Mrs. K., a 99-year-old neighbor in need from Bethesda. The group, led by the dynamic duo of Jill Purdy and Young Park, were amazing and worked tirelessly to greatly improve the health and safety of Mrs. K.’s home. The team created a new stone walkway from the front of the house to the street to allow Mrs. K. to safely take her daily walks. The team removed the old, uneven pathway and laid a new foundation and installed new pavers. They also installed and painted new handrails, repaired the fence, cleaned out the basement and a storage shed, repainted the bathroom and the kitchen ceiling, and completely transformed the yard by weeding and pruning, clearing overgrowth, planting flowers, spreading mulch, and fixing the downspout on the home. RTMC’s goal is to help keep vulnerable homeowners safely in their own homes and the GEICO team truly brought our mission to life. Mrs. K.’s goal is to live to be 103 years old and with the help from the GEICO team, we have no doubt she’ll make it!

2023 RTMC Sponsorship Menu is Here!

We’ve even included QR Codes for each event that will provide more detailed information. If you have any questions, please contact Maury Peterson at mpeterson@rebuildingtogethermc.org. Homeowner Stories: Meet Our Neighbor, Ms. C.

Ms. C. with AmeriCorps Project Coordinator Vivian

We were delighted to serve Silver Spring homeowner Ms. C., pictured on the left with Vivian Bacarreza, RTMC AmeriCorps Project Coordinator. Critical home repairs to make Ms. C.'s bathroom more accessible and safer included a tub cut, grab bars and a toilet seat riser. We also installed smoked detectors throughout the house. In the post work survey we received, Ms. C. said what she liked best about working with RTMC was, "The professionalism of all the personnel I came in contact with at RTMC from beginning to end of project". Ms. C, it was our pleasure!  If you know someone who could use our services, please see our online application in English and Spanish HERE.
