Now that Labor Day has passed, the holidays are just around the corner. Many people may want to make gifts of cash or stock to their loved ones. By properly using the annual exclusion, gifts to family members and loved ones can reduce the size of your taxable estate, within generous limits, without triggering any estate or gift tax. The exclusion amount for 2023 is $17,000.

Happy Anniversary!

On September 14th, we celebrated Kim Hazzard's third anniversary!


Kim is an Administrative Assistant in our Admin Department and works on day-to-day processing of tax returns.


We are thankful for all her hard work and look forward to many more years!

Congratulations Brandon & Katie!

We are pleased to announce that Brandon T. Heggan, CPA has been promoted to Supervisor!



Brandon joined SCG in August 2018 after interning during the summer of 2017. He is a 2018 suma cum laude graduate of the University of Delaware with Bachelor of Science Degrees in Accounting and Finance. He was awarded the 2019 Elijah Watt Sells Award from the AICPA for exceptional performance while taking the Uniform CPA Examination. Brandon is a member of the AICPA and DSCPA.

We are pleased to announce that Kathryn M. Shiflet, CPA has been promoted to Supervisor!


Katie joined SCG in August 2018 after interning during the summer of 2017. She is a 2018 graduate of the University of Delaware with Bachelor of Science Degrees in Accounting and Finance. She is a member of SCG’s Tax Department, as well as the AICPA and DSCPA.

Phillie Phanatics!

On Monday, August 21st, Bob Elder took his wife, Neyja, Steve Lex of Pettinaro Construction, and Angela Mariano of P&C Roofing, to the Phillies game.


It was another gorgeous night at Citizens Bank Park and to make it even better, the Phillies won 10-4!
