Are you one of the many
UUCW members and friends who enjoyed and participated
in the past two Chili Cookoffs?
It was a lot of fun, wasn’t it? The Chili Cookoff is an event that lends itself to community interest and participation, and many church members tell us that this is one of their favorite events.
Your participation in the planning, organizing, and publicizing can help keep this community-building tradition going for another successful year. If you want to be a part of this UUCW tradition, please contact Vicki Banville.

In Memorium
Frederick Robertson Griffin
1936 - 2023
Bob Griffin died on June 26. Bob had been a UUCW member for about 10 years and was a regular attendee at the Men's Breakfast. Bob was an accountant and author who wrote "Affectionately, Wallace: the Life and Work of W.W. Gilchrist." Bob's grandfather was a Unitarian minister at the First Unitarian Church of Philadelphia. Our sympathies to his wife and his daughters. While an obituary is not available at this time, you are invited to provide your thoughts and memories on a virtual Memory Wall.

In Memorium
Katharine (Kathy) Brenner
Former member, Kathy Brenner, also died recently. Almuth Soffee tells that Kathy helped design the landscape bed near the front entrance, which was once called the Lowengart Garden. As a Landscape Designer, who focused on horticulture, she appreciated our meditation garden and its variety of native plants. Kathy knew all the names, and growing habits of the wide variety of trees, shrubs and flowers found on the church grounds. Because she preferred solitude to group activities, she frequently came in the evenings to weed the meditation garden. She was one of the many behind-the-scenes workers at UUCW who quietly beautified our grounds. Our condolences to Kathy's family.

UU Wellspring
UUCW will be offering two separate Wellspring programs beginning in September 2023, meeting about twice monthly through May 2024.
The first program is Sources, the foundational Wellspring program focused on the Sources of Unitarian Universalism. It is a prerequisite to the second program we're offering, Spiritual Ancestors.
UU Wellspring is a spiritual deepening program. Group members practice deep listening and spiritual reflection in groups of about ten. They read, view, and respond to assignments that are focused on spiritual topics and UU Theology.
