"Betwixt and Between:

Navigating the Space Between"

SUNDAY'S ORDER OF SERVICE
ABOUT OUR GUEST

Pulpit Guest:

The Rev. Dr. Lisa Presley

Many of our UU congregations are coming back together in space this fall, and are discovering who they are now, and where they might be going. For UU Church West, this is even more poignant, as we’re also looking to what our future with ministry might be. We will explore the nature of betwixt and between—where are we are bewitched, bothered, and bewildered, as well as blessed and becoming!

The service will include a ritual inviting us to name what needs to be released and then cast it into the Samhain fire.

Got questions?

Sunday, October 30, 11:45-1:15

Unanswered questions and conflicting understandings come with any ministerial transition. Rev. Presley has offered to spend some time answering your questions and will shed light on what to expect during both interim ministry and the forthcoming ministerial settlement process.

Bring your questions and some finger food to share. Let’s take advantage of Rev. Presley’s experience and wisdom.

Fire Escape Stairs Complete

Upper-level Meeting Rooms Now Available for Use

For almost a year, the upper level of UU Church West's building has been closed for meetings due to the external wood fire escape that started to fall and had become unsafe.

Thanks to the skills of BuildMKE and the financial support from UUCW member Polly Ellingson, we now have a safe reliable fire escape in its place.

Recycling Day Thank You!

Thank you to everyone that dropped off items for our recycling event on October 15. We collected metal, textile/clothing, and plastic bags/film. It was chilly outside, but it was nice to talk with the other volunteers.

A big thank you to our volunteers: Leslie Peterson, Terese Dineen, Lynn Kapitan, Linda Weitzer, Jim Weitzer, Julie Toman, Jerry Kashmerick, Mary Ross, Kal Larson, Lisa Larson, Mike Wahlen, Stephanie Wahlen, Joyce Cable, Barb Holzhauer and Beth Zaretzke.

DID YOU KNOW? - We are still collecting plastic Bags/film. You can drop them off in the containers in the foyer. These containers will be available for the next few months. Help us earn another bench.

The high school youth group, YRUU, is holding an information session for students and parents to prepare for this once-in-a-HS-career pilgrimage to the home of the UUA. "What’s Done is Done?"

The Rev. Julie Stoneberg

How is it that the past never changes, yet contains a story of change playing on repeat? History repeats itself, especially if we don’t listen to what it has to tell us.

Our theme for November is Change, and on this morning, we’ll begin to look at UUCW’s story, that we may learn from it.
