"Grief, Gratitude, and Transformation" | |
|
Guest Speaker: Rev. Pam Rumancik
Worship Leader: Steven Frey
While it is essential to pay attention to blessings that lift our hearts and remind us of the good, it is also necessary to make space for loss and pain. When buried, these can inhibit our ability to love and share. This service will explore the relationship between gratitude and grief and the opportunities for transformation that come from opening to the whole of life.
Our theme for November is "The Gift of Generosity."

“Transgender Day of Remembrance seeks to highlight the losses we face due to anti-transgender bigotry and violence. I am no stranger to the need to fight for our rights, and the right to simply exist is first and foremost. With so many seeking to erase transgender people — sometimes in the most brutal ways possible — it is vitally important that those we lose are remembered, and that we continue to fight for justice.”
– Transgender Day of Remembrance founder Gwendolyn Ann Smith

LOVE is at the Center
The UUA's Article 2 Study Commission released their final proposal this week, which incorporates the amendments approved at June's General Assembly (GA). As the Commission puts it, "It is a fundamental act of hope to consider revising and revitalizing our agreement together as congregations." This proposal will come to GA 2024 for a final vote to approve, although a petition to make additional amendments is still possible with the support of the governing boards of 15 congregations.
If approved, this wording will replace the current Principles and Sources in the UUA bylaws. With these revisions, we can say, “We come from many paths, but we all put Love at the center.”

A Holiday Message from
Karen Zimmerman
of the Earth Ministry Team
As the holiday season approaches, many of us start thinking about gift-giving. However, it's important to remember that our consumerist culture can have a significant impact on the environment. This is where alternative gift-giving comes in. By choosing alternative gifts, we can reduce waste and minimize our carbon footprint.

Rev. Julie Stoneberg
Just like a Thanksgiving turkey isn't always done perfectly, our best attempts to do things 'right' can be misguided, and even cause harm. How is it that our desire to be generous sometimes goes off the rails? What 'best practices' can guide our generosity?
Our theme for November is "The Gift of Generosity."
Due to the holiday weekend, there will be no YRUU or regular Religious Education classes. Group RE will be offered for grades 4K - 8.
