MARK CALENDAR FOR NOVEMBER MEETING
Please plan to attend the SN-ICC Chapter Meeting scheduled for Thursday, November 8 at Sierra Gold on Jones Boulevard and Sunset Road.
The chapter is pleased to announce the special guest speaker will be Tim Scheider, founder, CEO, lead facilitator and trainer for Aegis Learning.
Schneider is also a popular instructor at the annual EduCode International conference and expo.
He will present a short seminar on "Managing Change."

SN-ICC MEMBERSHIP MIXER SET FOR OCTOBER
Based on the positive experience at the chapter membership networking mixer at the Mob Museum in December, SN-ICC has scheduled a membership mixer there again.
The networking mixer is set for 5 p.m., to 8 p.m., Thursday,
October 11 at the historic attraction in Downtown Las Vegas.
Members who attend the complimentary mixer will enjoy hors d'oeuvres, beverages and the run of the museum's exhibits.

ETHICS TOPIC OF OCTOBER CHAPTER MEETING
Yvonne Nevarez-Goodman, executive director of the Nevada Commission on Ethics, will be the guest speaker at the Chapter Meeting scheduled for Thursday, October 11 at Sierra Gold on Jones Boulevard and Sunset Road.
The annual "Ethics" meeting will also include an introduction to the student recipients of this year's SN-ICC scholarship awards.
The Nevada Commission on Ethics is an 8-member body appointed by the governor and Legislative Commission to interpret and enforce the provisions of the Ethics in Government Law set forth in NRS Chapter 281A ("Ethics Law").
The Ethics Law establishes the public policy and standards of conduct necessary to ensure the integrity and impartiality of government, free from conflicts of interest between public duties and private interests of state and local public officers and employees.

MECHANICAL, PLUMBING CODE CLASSES
SN-ICC has partnered with the local chapter of the International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials to offer classes on the 2018 Uniform Mechanical Code and 2018 Uniform Plumbing Code.
The classes are scheduled for the mornings and afternoons of November 7 and November 8 at the Henderson Inspection Services Building, 2101 Moser Drive, Henderson, NV 89015.
The classes will be complimentary for SN-ICC and IAPMO members; $55 for non-members.

SN-ICC ATTAINS RECORD MEMBERSHIP
The chapter is pleased to report that membership has grown to 303, which is a record number of members.
That's an 11 percent increase compared to the 273 members in 2017.
The chapter salutes all those involved in bringing in new members, but especially, the Membership Committee, chaired by 2nd Vice President Jim Gerren of Clark County, for their outstanding efforts to boost membership and retain existing, valued members.
Also, of special note, the City of North Las Vegas signed up an additional eight members this year, and KB Home signed up seven additional members, including two student interns.

EDUCODE REGISTRATION BEGINS OCTOBER 19
Educode Director Al Ellis and the members of the EduCode Committee have been hard at work establishing plans for the 2019 EduCode conference and expo, set for March 11-15 at the Orleans Hotel Conference Center.
The program books are nearly completed and should be delivered by early October.
EduCode registration is set to begin on October 19.

MEMBER NEWS
The City of Las Vegas has issued an Industry Advisory that, effective October 1, the city's Building and Safety Department will no longer issue permits to contractors licensed solely as an A-10 for work that includes the installation of water or gas plumbing service lines to fixtures that are not directly related to the pool or pool service equipment.
Examples of such fixtures include, but are not limited to, fire pits, fireplaces, barbecue stub outs and tiki torches.
The Industry Advisory stated "Any such water or gas plumbing work that exceeds the limitation of the scope of work defined in NRS 624.150 sub-classification A-10 (F) must be performed by a properly licensed plumbing contractor."
