SN-ICC HONORS MEMBERS AT INSTALLATION
  
SN-ICC 2017 President Majid Pakniat, left, of the City of Henderson, passed the gavel to incoming President Sam Palmer of Clark County at the Installation and Awards Banquet.  
 
The SN-ICC salutes all those involved in the success of the 2018 Installation and Awards Banquet on January 20 at the Revere Golf Club in the Sun City Anthem community of Henderson.

About 120 members and special guests attended the gala event to witness the swearing in of the members of the 2018 board of directors, and the presentation of awards to outstanding members.

Special thanks go the chapter's Membership Committee, chaired by 1st Vice President Jim Gerren, for their efforts to ensure the success of the event.


2018 International Code Council President Jay Elbettar conducted the swearing in ceremony at the event.


The 2018 board members are:

- President Sam Palmer, P.E., C.B.O., Clark County Department of Building & Fire Prevention Bureau;
 - 1st Vice President Terry Kozlowski, City of North Las Vegas Land Development & Community Services;
- 2nd Vice President Jim Gerren, P.E., C.B.O., Clark County Department of Building & Fire Prevention Bureau;
- Secretary/Treasurer Kevin McOsker, P.E., C.B.O., City of Las Vegas Building & Safety Department;
- Director-at-large Christa Bilbrey, KB Home;

- Past President Majid Pakniat, P.E., City of Henderson Community Development & Services - Building and Fire Safety Division.


2017 President Majid Pakniat, right, presented the "President's Special Award" to Past President Steve DiGiovanni of the Clark County Department of Building & Fire Prevention Bureau for his outstanding service during Pakniat's year as president.


Pakniat presented the "Government Member of the Year Award" to Secretary/Treasurer Kevin McOsker, building official for the City of Las Vegas Building & Safety Department.


The "Industry Member of the Year Award" went to past board member and Public Outreach Committee Chairman David Goldstein of Geotek.


ICC President Jay Elbettar was all smiles when he received a gift from SN-ICC - a personized Vegas Golden Knights jersey. He is pictured with Past President Majid Pakniat and President Sam Palmer.


Chuck Ramani, P.E., C.B.O., left, president of International Accreditation Service at ICC, spoke to banquet attendees and thanked the chapter for its commitment to ICC and the industry. Ramani is retiring after 44 years of service to the industry.

SN-ICC WELCOMES NEW BOARD MEMBER 

Michael Gentille 
The chapter is pleased to introduce the newest member of the board of directors - Michael Gentille, C.B.O., who was elected a director-at-large at the January board meeting.

Gentille is the president and chief executive officer of PCNA Consulting Group, which specializes in codes, fire engineering and accessibility. 

FIRESTOP SEMINAR ATTRACTS STRONG TURNOUT



More than 50 chapter members, including four new members, turned out for the chapter's Firestop Seminar on January 25 at the Henderson Building and Fire Safety Department.

The chapter thanks longtime building industry official and professional Brice Miller for presenting this important and timely training. The chapter thanks Henderson's Building and Fire Safety Department, particularly Al Ellis and his team, for their assistance and hospitality.

The chapter salutes our Education Committee, chaired by Terry Kozlowski of the City of North Las Vegas, for putting together this seminar. The chapter's petition to ICC for continuing education credits is pending.


NEXT CHAPTER MEETING SET FOR FEBRUARY 8


Nearly 100 members and guests have registered to attend the SN-ICC Chapter Meeting scheduled for 11:30 a.m., Thursday, February 8 at Sierra Gold on Jones Boulevard at Sunset Road in the southwest valley.

The meeting will feature Makeup Air System (MUAS) training by respected ventilation industry executive Sherman Hamlett, sales manager of Fantech, which specializes in ventilation systems.

The registration deadline is Monday, so please don't delay signing up to attend what promises to be an interesting and informative presentation.

The luncheon meeting is free for chapter members; $20 for non-members.
