A Few Notes

This weekend we will be our first ever Pews to Pizza event in the Parish Center after the Vigil Mass (Mass at 5 PM, Pizza at 6 PM). Vigil Mass attendees are encouraged to remain for fellowship. There will be a live band featuring Harry Schairer. Thank you to all who volunteered to serve and clean up! The wrong day and date is listed on the cover of the bulletin, so ignore that (truly not sure how I managed that debacle...many apologies!). This event is on Saturday at 6 PM only.

Thank you to everyone who voted for our Parish Pastoral Council. There were 631 votes cast. Once Monsignor Finelli chooses his 3 from the remaining candidates, we'll be ready to announce our Council!

The Knights of Columbus are hosting their Golf Tournament on September 11th, and the Infiniti QX65 that is a possible prize will be here at St. Joseph the Worker this weekend! Stop by under the canopy to see it and sign up for the tournament with the Knights who will be in attendance.

Family Faith Formation is still in need of 4th and 6th grade catechists. Are you hearing the call? See below for details.

A Bereavement Gathering will be held on Sunday, August 2nd after the 11:00 AM Mass. Join us in Parish Center room 5/6 at 12:15 PM. Healing takes time and patience. Through sharing with others your spirits will be comforted and supported.

Now is the time to register your children in 1st through 8th grades for Family Faith Formation. We know you will enjoy being a part of this community which grows organically, as you also grow closer as a family and to the Lord. ATTENTION! We are seeking joyful and faith-filled catechists to teach Grades 4 and 6 in our Family Faith Formation Program. Classes meet twice a month on Wednesdays from 6:00–7:30 p.m.

This is a wonderful opportunity to share your faith and help children and their families grow closer to Jesus Christ. By serving as a catechist, you will play an important role in nurturing young disciples and supporting parents as the primary educators of their children in the Catholic faith.

No previous teaching experience is necessary—we provide training, lesson materials, and ongoing support.

If you would like to share good times with a very delightful group of knitters, crocheters, loomers, etc., please join us We are beginning our 2026-2027 season in August. Meetings are every 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month through April. Even if you’ve never learned needlework in the past, now is the time. You can create your own work for family and friends, or donate to our many charities. Our next meetings are on August 11th and 25th at 1 PM in Parish Center room 3/4. Plant a Row Lehigh Valley (PARLV) is a totally volunteer organization that helps supply fresh fruits, herbs and vegetables to the hungry in Berks, Lehigh and Northampton Counties.

How can you help?

− Dedicate a row (or more) in your garden and/or your surplus to donate to people in need.

− If you don’t have a garden, you can purchase fruits and vegetables at a farmer’s market or grocery store.

− Become a substitute driver for one or more of our donation sites.

Pray for Our Parish

Dear God, I believe that you have the ability to convert everyone at St. Joseph the Worker Church and I beg you to perform miracles in our lives that we will come to love you and never want to offend you.

I beg you to let us see our sins and run to the confessional, that the lines will be out the door.

Set the hearts of our priests on fire so that they burn with the desire for the conversion of every soul in the parish.

I implore you to make St. Joseph's a beacon in our diocese, that souls will be drawn by the holiness they find here.

I ask that you blind Satan to every parishioner, that they might have the space to know and love you without temptation.

I offer myself to you completely at whatever the cost.

If you are interested in registering with the parish, please contact Gina at media@stjwchurch.org. You must be a registered member for at least three months to be a godparent, Confirmation sponsor, marry, or baptize your child at St. Joseph the Worker. Please register, and remind your adult children to register in a parish near them.

Helping Hands are available for sale Tuesday through Friday, 11 AM-1:00 PM in the Parish Office, or before and after every weekend Mass.

Thank you for continuing to support our parish. You may mail offertory envelopes to the Parish Office, drop them in the lock-box hanging to the left of the office entrance, or bring them inside during office hours of 9-4:30 PM.
