A Few Notes

Happy feast day! Today we celebrate our patron, St. Joseph the Worker. How blessed we are to have the Father of the Church, the Most Chaste Spouse of Mary, and the Terror of Demons looking out for our parish here in Orefield! Joseph was a man of few words (none that are written in scripture), but we all know that actions speak louder than words. Be sure to take some time today to thank St. Joseph, and while you are at it, ask him to intercede for your intentions and for our parish!

May is also the month of Mary, and we will be celebrating her by praying the Rosary before all Masses in May. You can sign up HERE and find more information below the video.

Congratulations to the second graders who will be making their First Holy Communion tomorrow! Please pray for them! This is a ticketed event, but you can watch on our YouTube channel at 10:30 AM HERE.

This coming week is Teacher Appreciation Week! We are grateful for all of the excellent teachers we have at St. Joseph the Worker School. Thank you!

The Bishop has gifted everyone in the Diocese a copy of 33 Days to Eucharistic Glory. There are still a number of copies on the table in the vestibule, so please take one. If you begin reading this Tuesday, May 5th, you will finish on the Feast of Corpus Christi. You may want to consider doing some of your reading in front of the Blessed Sacrament...what better way to deepen your friendship with Jesus? Our Chapel is open from 9 AM to 8 PM, Monday through Friday.

Leading the Rosary before Mass is a beautiful gift to our Blessed Mother. Please consider signing up to lead our parish in this beautiful devotion HERE. Begin praying 25 minutes before Mass is to start and end by 5 minutes before Mass to leave time for the prelude. If you pray the rosary a little bit slower and more deliberately, please start earlier. We will lead the rosary from the choir lectern. Sometimes it is nice to have a friend to help lead the rosary with you. There will be a folder with the prayers of the rosary on the shelf of the lectern. Only pray the prayers that are in the folder.

A Bereavement Gathering will be held this Sunday, May 3rd after the 11:00 Mass. Join us in the Parish Center room 3/4 at 12:15 pm. Healing takes time and patience. Through sharing with others your spirits will be comforted and supported.

If you have young children begging for a phone or social media accounts, we have a speaker for you! On May 4th at 5 PM, St. Joseph the Worker School is presenting Alex Haynie who will help you navigate technology in the hands of your children with confidence.

The Women’s Guild Officer Installation will be held on May 5th at 6 PM in the School Multipurpose Room. Doors open at 6 PM. All members of the Guild are invited to thank our current Officers and Board members and welcome the new Officers who have agreed to share their time and talent to keep the Guild a part of our vibrant parish community. The installation takes place during a moving candlelight ceremony that you won’t want to miss, so please join us as we celebrate another successful year for the Guild. Refreshments will be provided following the ceremony.

Pray for Our Parish

Dear God, I believe that you have the ability to convert everyone at St. Joseph the Worker Church and I beg you to perform miracles in our lives that we will come to love you and never want to offend you.

I beg you to let us see our sins and run to the confessional, that the lines will be out the door.

Set the hearts of our priests on fire so that they burn with the desire for the conversion of every soul in the parish.

I implore you to make St. Joseph's a beacon in our diocese, that souls will be drawn by the holiness they find here.

I ask that you blind Satan to every parishioner, that they might have the space to know and love you without temptation.

I offer myself to you completely at whatever the cost.

Amen
