A Few Notes

The quilting group is now meeting twice a week and have added Wednesday mornings from 9:30-11:30 to their regular Monday evening schedule. All are welcome to join at either time.

There are nine days left to bring in your unneeded Christmas gifts. Please recycle by donating them to the Women's Guild, where they will transform your new and unused items into beautiful gift baskets for Craftfest. There is a bin in the vestibule for these treasures.

Night at the Races is always a good time at St. Joseph's! See below for more about this event which takes place next Saturday night in the Parish Center.

You may have read in the bulletin that the company which empties our blue clothing bins no longer has a thrift store, and as a result, they will be removing them from the parking lot. The bins are currently full. Thank you for your support of this Women's Guild fundraiser through the years!

The Catholic Grandparents Association invites grandparents to start the new year off right by joining us at our next meeting. We will meet on Saturday, January 21st after the 8:30 AM Mass in the Parish Center in room 5/6 (9 AM).

Grandparents have a unique role in passing on the faith to our family’s next generation. Many of us learned our faith sitting on our grandparent’s knee. What a beautiful scene! January is a great time to start new things and what could be more important than to share the beautiful traditions of our Catholic Faith. There are marvelous feast days in January which you can use to talk about our faith in practical terms to your younger family members.

Come join other grandparents at our meeting where we pray with, meet, and learn from each other. You are always welcome.

Have you been listening to the Catechism in a Year podcast with Fr. Mike Schmitz? Starting this Monday, January 23rd at 7 PM in room 3/4, Deacon Bruno Schettini and Gina Medvedz will host a discussion group, where we can reflect upon what stood out in the readings from the past week and how we can further incorporate the teachings of Holy Mother Church in our own lives. To sign up so we can contact you in case of inclement weather, click HERE. For a copy of the reading plan, click HERE.

This 13 week program for men will begin again this Wednesday, January 25th. Free and open to all men, we invite you to attend as many sessions as you can. We will meet in room 3/4 on Wednesday mornings from 7-8AM. For more information, contact Mike Tully at [email protected]

Knights of Columbus Council 10921 will host a Night at the Races next Saturday, January 28th in the Parish Center Main Hall. Gates open at 6 PM. Races begin at 7 PM. Admission is $15, payable at the door. Includes dinner, hors d'oeuvres, snacks, refreshments and BYOB set ups. Fans may also bring their own wine, race day drinks, snacks and appetizers. Tables may be reserved for groups. Contact John Fitzpatrick HERE or call him at 610-530-7728.

You can sponsor horses for $10 each. Submit an envelope with your name, phone# and email address, along with the names of your horses and payment to the Parish Office, the collection basket, or mail it to John Fitzpatrick at 513 Steeplechase Ln, Allentown, PA 18106 by 1/22.

Prayer for Our Parish

Dear God,

I believe that you have the ability to convert everyone at St. Joseph the Worker Church and I beg you to perform miracles in our lives that we will come to love you and never want to offend you.

I beg you to let us see our sins and run to the confessional, that the lines will be out the door.

Set the hearts of our priests on fire so that they burn with the desire for the conversion of every soul in the parish.

I implore you to make St. Joseph's a beacon in our diocese, that souls will be drawn by the holiness they find here.

I ask that you blind Satan to every parishioner, that they might have the space to know and love you without temptation.

I offer myself to you completely at whatever the cost.

Amen
