A Few Notes

Please note: Due to the Bereavement Mass at 10 AM this Saturday, there will be no 8:30 Mass.

This past week we have been praying for vocations. Did you forget? No worries! Every day is a good day to pray for priests and encourage our young people to consider a life consecrated to the Lord. Young men in grades 9-12 should attend the Day of Discernment at St. Charles Borromeo Seminary on November 16th. The priesthood may not be for your son, but how will he ever know unless he takes time to discern? See below for details.

The Women's Guild will be under the canopy again after all Masses this weekend selling chances to win a Quilt and purchase 50/50 tickets to be drawn at Craftfest. Did you know that the proceeds from Craftfest are distributed annually to organizations within our parish? Please support the Women's Guild and plan to attend Craftfest next Saturday.

We will be setting up for Craftfest at the Women's Guild meeting on Tuesday at 6 PM. There will be no kitchen prep that night, but many hands will make for light work. New members are invited and welcome to help!

If you didn't have a chance to complete your nominations during Mass last weekend for our Parish Pastoral Council, there are forms on the table in the vestibule. Arrive early and place the form in the collection basket, or fill it out after Mass and give it to any priest. Thank you for participating!

Today is First Friday, which is devoted to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. To honor Him, we have overnight Adoration, so whether you get home from work until 11 PM, or if you want to offer Him the sacrifice of waking at 3 AM to go for a visit, Jesus will be waiting in the Chapel for you. Perhaps you could ask Him for vocations, see what He has to say about your own vocation, or pray to Him about a special Holy Soul you are remembering this month. Whatever it is you choose to talk to Him about, Jesus will listen. He is the Wonderful Counselor!

If you have been putting off making a will, consider attending the free Estate Planning Workshop this Sunday at 12:15 in room 3/4. See below.

Monsignor Finelli apologizes for making the longest video in E-News history. In comparison to Gone with the Wind, you can rest assured that it is very brief. It's all important stuff, though, so please give a listen!

Cash prizes awarded and first place winners will advance to the District level. Applications available in the vestibule. Deadline is November 31st. Drop box also located in the vestibule.

The newly formed Youth Choir will meet for a brief rehearsal this Sunday, November 9th at 12:05 in room 1. The Youth Choir will share a special piece of music at the 11:00 Mass on November 16th. All are welcome from Grades 2-8.

Pray for Our Parish

Dear God,

I believe that you have the ability to convert everyone at St. Joseph the Worker Church and I beg you to perform miracles in our lives that we will come to love you and never want to offend you.

I beg you to let us see our sins and run to the confessional, that the lines will be out the door.

Set the hearts of our priests on fire so that they burn with the desire for the conversion of every soul in the parish.

I implore you to make St. Joseph's a beacon in our diocese, that souls will be drawn by the holiness they find here.

I ask that you blind Satan to every parishioner, that they might have the space to know and love you without temptation.

I offer myself to you completely at whatever the cost.

Amen
