May Board of Directors Meeting

The May  Ocean Ranch Homeowners Association Board of Directors Meeting will be held on Thursday, May 18th  at the Laguna Niguel Sea Country Senior & Community Center located at 24602 Aliso Creek Road. The meeting will begin with the closed Executive Session at 6:30 PM followed by the regular Open Session of the Board Meeting which will begin approximately 7:30 PM. For your information, the proposed Meeting Agenda is posted on the Bulletin Board located at the Ocean Ranch Community Park Complex.
All Ocean Ranch residents are invited to participate in the Open Session to discuss any matters of business that would be proper to come before the Ocean Ranch Board of Directors. While it is not necessary that the Board be notified before the actual Board Meeting, it may be more effective if Ocean Ranch’s Community Manager, MS. Katie Davies is apprised of the issue ahead of time. You may contact Ms. Davies by telephone at: (949) 448-6160, or via email at katie.davies@fsresidential.com. You may also write directly to Ms. Davies at FirstServices Residential, 15241 Laguna Canyon Road, Irvine, CA 92618.

BOARD MEETING
Ocean Ranch Homeowners Association
Annual Meeting and Election - July 20, 2023

Ocean Ranch residents should have received a notice of the postponement of the Ocean Ranch Election originally scheduled for  June 15th to July 20th. You should also have received  a “Call for Candidates” form informing you of the upcoming elections and about the Board of Directors positions that are to be voted upon in the election.

The Ocean Ranch Homeowners Association is a legal corporation established to manage the business affairs of the Association. It is a non-profit Association, so officers elected to the Board of Directors are all volunteers serving the Association without remuneration. Officers need to be able to act in the best interests of the Association as a whole and as fiduciaries of the Association, are legally responsible for acting in the best interests of the Association. For the past decade or so, Ocean Ranch has been fortunate to have had elected Board members who have fulfilled these fiduciary responsibilities quite admirably, that is, they have worked for the best interests of the Association, rather than whatever personal interests they may have had.

Nevertheless, Ocean Ranch encourages any property owner of the Association who may have interests in serving on the Board of Directors to complete a Candidacy Form and submit to Ms. Katie Davies, Ocean Ranch at Bear Brand Homeowners Association C/O FirstService Residential, 15241 Laguna Canyon Road, Irvine CA 92618

ACCESS CONTROL
 Guest Lists for QuickPass

The Board of Directors would like to ask all Ocean Ranch residents to carefully review their guest lists of individuals who are currently designated as “permanently” authorized to enter Ocean Ranch. We especially request that each resident limit their permanent guest authorizations to no more than 30 guests. The reason for this request is to make sure that guests on the list really should still be on the list. There are several residents who have large numbers  of permanently authorized guests; some with over 70 guests! This means ANY PERSON you list as a permanently authorized guest will automatically be admitted entry to Ocean Ranch just based on that status. Once inside Ocean Ranch they would essentially have free reign.

Former painters, former gardeners and former vendors of any type and their helpers could potentially drive up to Ocean Ranch’s gates and give your name and address and be admitted since the Gate Attendants would only be able to verify that the arriving individual is listed as a permanent guest of the residence they reported.

Excessive permanent outdated guest lists constitute a significant security weakness. Please do your part to help protect the overall safety of Ocean Ranch by carefully reviewing and editing your permanent guest list.

We also request that Ocean Ranch residents use the “permanent guest” designation very judiciously, hopefully no more than 30 guests designated as permanent guests. If you truly need more than 30 permanent guests you can be accommodated, but remember you are responsible for the actions of all your invited guests.

No Trash Pickup on Memorial Day

We wish to remind all Ocean Ranch residents that Memorial Day is one of the “major holidays” on CR&R’s calendar where trash collection that would have otherwise been collected on Monday, May 29th will be delayed one day. Trash pickup for the week of May 29th will be collected on Tuesday, May 30th

Please do not put trash cans at the curb until
MONDAY EVENING, May 29th.

Dear Monarch,

There are two types of people in our world: those who work with plants and those who work for plants. At Monarch, we are the latter. ....
Please Continue to be Vigilant

The Ocean Ranch Safety Council has emphasized the slogan, “If you see something, say something.” There is great merit in following this rule and we thank you for being aware of activities going on in Ocean Ranch. We all need to help maintain safety and security for our Community.   During the spate of burglaries that occurred late last year, we heard of at least one incident where a resident of an adjoining community noticed some individuals trekking into the canyon late one afternoon but did not report anything. We are not aware if that incident resulted in a burglary, but that kind of report would have been beneficial to police authorities investigating burglaries.

The continued cooperation of Ocean Ranch residents with the implementation of the new gate protocols has been instrumental in achieving more effective admittance screening of visitors and vendors visiting Ocean Ranch. Our Gate Attendants have been making a concerted effort to carefully follow prescribed gate admittance procedures so that only authorized visitors and vendors are admitted. We believe these improved protocols have resulted in improved safety for our Community

Please  continue to focus on safety and security procedures necessary to protect your residence. The Orange County Sheriff’s Department serving Laguna Niguel particularly recommends making sure properties are well lit and appear to be occupied.

You Are Responsible for Your Guests

From time to time Ocean Ranch has experienced incidents where guests have shown distinct disrespect for Ocean Ranch and its residents. These incidents involved guests invited to parties in Ocean Ranch who left substantial amounts of trash, empty beer bottles and similar refuse strewn about the streets and adjacent properties. Sometimes people picking up Ocean Ranch residents such as shuttle or taxi drivers have found it more convenient to dump their trash on Ocean Ranch streets rather than properly dispose of their garbage. Such behavior is certainly inappropriate for Ocean Ranch and cannot be tolerated.

If you are planning to have a party with outside invited guests, please remember that you are fully responsible for any damage your guests may cause and that you are also fully responsible for cleaning up any refuse your guests may leave behind. Please plan to survey your neighborhood after your guests leave to make sure they have not left trash either on the streets or on your neighbor's property. We are all responsible for the cleanliness and beauty of Ocean Ranch.

While the Board of Directors continues to focus on improving safety in Ocean Ranch and working on springtime landscaping maintenance, we are always open to comments from homeowners about other areas where further improvements may be needed. Please feel free to communicate suggestions via phone or email to our Community Manager, Ms. Katie Davies.  Katie’s direct telephone number at FirstService Residential is (949) 448-6160. Her email address is katie.davis@fsresidential.com. You may also write directly to Ms. Davies at FirstServices Residential, 15241 Laguna canyon Road, Irvine, CA 92618 You may also notify either the Upper Gate or the Lower Gate attendants and they will pass the information along so that it receives the attention it deserves.
