Youthquake 2023 Recap

YouthQuake 2023 was an incredible weekend! We heard from our keynoter, Rev. Dr. Robert Lowry, who reminded us that we are Beloved even when others try to tear us down. He reminded us that the world tries to create barriers amongst us and our job is to break down those walls. Rev. Leslie Roper wrote our Small Group Manual which enabled our youth and adults to dive deeply into our scriptures and form connections in small groups. Rob Button kept us singing about creating larger, fuller, crowded tables where all are welcome and all belong. Read more...

You are invited to attend the Protecting Places of Worship Weeks of Action Virtual Events in September.

In support of September’s National Preparedness Month, the Department of Homeland Security dedicates national weeks of action, encouraging faith-based and community organizations to safeguard people and places through partnerships with local emergency managers and first responders. The 2023 weeks of action will include virtual workshops for the faith community and private sector.

  • CISA Response to Suspicious Behaviors and Items introduces the faith-based community to recognizing and responding to suspicious behaviors and activities related to terrorist or criminal activities. Sept. 27, 1-2PM CST Register Here

Correction from the Last Update

In the last Update we accidentally said that the 2023 Clabaugh Lectures were taking place in September, but they are taking place October 22 & 23 at First Presbyterian in Bentonville. Thank you for the catch.

Honduras Ministries Update

Bendiciones Todos. Blessings all. Work is still continuing in Honduras on Pastor Gloria's home in the captial's neighborhood of Nueva Suyapa. Our most recent AR Presbytery group trip traveled south in March of 2023 and assisted in building a house, along with members of her congregation for Pastor Gloria to retire in. The group also travel to six additional churches to worship and visit together, as we were the first group to come since the pandemic.

ARE YOU INTERESTED IN GOING TO HONDURAS WITH US?

The 2024 group trip is already scheduled for Spring Break (March 16-23). We need your help to make sure everyone in your church is invited. Children/youth (age 10+ with a parent or adult), college students, and adults are welcome. NOT Required: High physical ability and Spanish-speaking skills. Orientation meetings are required to prepare participants on what to expect, and not everyone who applies will be selected. The estimated cost is $1,200-$1,500, and many churches offer scholarships.

An informational meeting will be on Zoom at 7 pm on Nov 9, 2023.

Applications are due on Dec. 1, 2023.

Applications are available here online or within the PDF Application Packet which is also packed with additional info attached.

This will be Leigh's 6th trip to lead for the Arkansas Presbytery. Contact Leigh Woodruff for questions or more information. (479) 601-1437  leighwoodruff@gmail.com
