NEW AT RIMROCK TRAILS

REDUCING BARRIERS TO SERVICES!

At Rimrock Trails Treatment Services, we believe that collaboration with community partners is essential to our work. That's why we're excited to announce we now have Counselor Interns providing individual counseling services, under the supervision of a Licensed Therapist, at 6 different K-12 school sites within the Redmond School District. Any student who is referred for mental health or substance use disorder treatment will be eligible to receive services with no out-of-pocket cost to the family.

We're proud to be able to offer these important services to students in the Redmond School District, and we're grateful for the opportunity to work together with the district to enhance the availability of counseling services for its students.

Jeannie Coyle-Penney

Volunteering has always been a part of my life. I grew up in a small farm town in Ohio but early on yearned for big city lights. Even while pursuing my fast-rising career in big companies in big cities—New York and San Franciso—and building my own executive coaching business in Portland—I dedicated lots of time volunteering on boards and creating events for non-profit professional associations. These pursuits were fueled by my passion for developing compassionate leaders who are also fierce business builders.

In 2019 my husband, David, and I made a life-changing decision to move to Prineville and build a log home. It was natural for him—he taught in small towns including Prineville and Halfway and was a Tillamook Dairy farmer. It did not seem so natural to me. However, at this point in my life, I was ready and committed to making Prineville our home. Post building our home, and the pandemic, I made another decision: to make room to support non-profits who work so hard to contribute to the greater good of this community.

I am enjoying my new volunteer work. I am the Crook County Connector for Connect Central Oregon providing an online platform, events, and networking to link volunteers and non-profits. I volunteer with SMART at the Crooked River Elementary School. I am also on the Mountain Star Prineville Advisory Board and volunteer in their preschool. Of course, I particularly treasure my very first volunteer role in Prineville as a member of the Rimrock Trails Prineville Community Engagement Team.

In addition, to my volunteerism, I am still coaching leaders virtually but find time for reading (US history and classic literature), watching films, and enjoying the easy-to-access outdoor activities of biking, hiking, kayaking, canoeing, fishing, skiing, and snowshoeing.

Shelby Fisher

Hi, I am Shelby Fisher, Health Strategist for the Crook County Health Department. As a member of the community engagement team, I am able to learn from like-minded partners and do work for the greater good. My career over the years has allowed me to be involved and connected with many folks in Crook County and it is a true joy and passion. When away from work you will likely catch me spending time with family, enjoying a good podcast usually with an iced coffee.

Ramona McCallister

I believe in giving back and paying it forward in your sphere of influence. I have had the privilege to serve as a high school instructor and a reporter for the Prineville community. As a recent retiree, I look for ways to continue serving the community I have called home for most of my adult life.

I was privileged to work with young people in my career, especially those who were struggling with challenges—whether they be physical, family dynamics, or substance abuse. Although retired from the public school system, I am always looking for ways to give back to our youth.

I enjoy several hobbies, including artwork, photography, and exploring the great outdoors. History has been a passion of mine for many years, especially local history. I have always loved to hear the stories of folks who have lived in the community as well as the stories of military veterans and those who have forged the hardships and adventures that have made up our country.

Serving with an organization such as Rimrock Trails is an honor and a privilege.

RESOURCES FOR YOU

Hope for the Holidays

For many people, the holidays conjure up a Norman Rockwell-esque mental picture of people gathered to enjoy food, friends, and family, accompanied by feelings of love, warmth, and excitement. But for others, the holidays can cause individuals to feel anxious or depressed despite all the decorations and festivities.

Mental Health America has compiled a series of articles to provide guidance and support for those seeking holiday cheer during what can be a very stressful time. They include 5 Things to Do When the Holidays Are Not Uplifting, Mourning Traditional Holidays, How to Navigate Alcohol Addiction Recovery over the Holidays, and Winter Break Survival Tips for College Students.
