Updates From Mayor Derek Norton at
The STATE OF THE CITY
The Cobb Chamber hosted the State Of The City with Mayor Norton on Wednesday, August 27 at the Smyrna Community Center.
In his second State of the City address, Mayor Derek Norton shared updates on city-wide developments, a 2021 year-in-review, and plans for the future of Smyrna. With a new brewery and downtown redesign well underway, the city has many existing developments.

Mayor Norton Announces 150th Birthday Celebration Bands and New Culture & Spirit Festival
|
During his State of the City address, Mayor Norton announced that the opening for the 150th Birthday Celebration concert is Toad and the Wet Sprocket with TRAIN headlining. The 150th Birthday Celebration will be held on Saturday, October 8 with activities beginning at 11:00 am at the new Culture & Spirit Festival with multiple performances and celebratory activities around City Hall and in the Market Village. Toad the Wet Sprocket and TRAIN will perform on the main stage on Atlanta Road in the evening and there will be the traditional fireworks display at the end. Follow the City of Smyrna's social media for more information as the date approaches and look for the event listing and information pages coming soon for the big happening on the City of Smyrna website at SmyrnaGa.gov with table sales to be announced soon.

Kenny's Great Pies Supporting the Smyrna Community
|
Smyrna Economic Development staff recently visited Kenny’s Great Pies for a company tour and visit. We were able to speak with Gary Muter (CEO) Darryl Johnson (VP of Sales and Marketing) and Felicia Gordon (Corporate Recruiter). Kenny's Great Pies is a great supporter of the Smyrna community, donating hundreds of pies for events and programs throughout Smyrna. Located at 5200 Highlands Parkway, Smyrna, GA 30082, the company has a pie window open to the public. Stop by if you’re in the area and have a taste for some Kenny’s Pies. Also, the company is actively adding to its team of excellence.

Smyrna City Council Adopts A Millage Rate Equal to Last Year's Rate
The City of Smyrna adopted a millage rate of 8.99 mills in July. The City’s millage rate has remained the same since 2008.

Also at the breakfast, the Next Generation Award, presented by The Mazloom Law Firm LLC, will be given to two outstanding young professionals.
