VIRTUAL 'CAMP' CAMP IS BETTER THAN NO 'CAMP' CAMP
Stupid COVID: 'Camp' Camp Goes Virtual (Again)

If you've been keeping up with us for awhile, you may know that we usually open registration for 'Camp' Camp in the preceding fall; however, this year we decided to wait until the spring before opening registration so we could monitor the state of the COVID pandemic here in the U.S. After much research, discussion, and deliberation, we've made the decision that ‘Camp’ Camp will be virtual again this August 22-29.

This was the single-most difficult decision we've ever had to make in 'Camp' Camp's 25 year history. We know this outcome will be disappointing to those of you who have been waiting to experience America's premier summer camp for LGBTQ adults for yourself, just as it has been to us and our long-time & returning Campers. However, after surveying our past Campers (who make up over 75% of attendees in any given year), only half of them said they currently feel comfortable attending Camp this summer, even with COVID guidelines relaxing and vaccines now widely available. Even when we factored in projected registrations from first-time Campers, producing 'Camp' Camp this summer with such reduced attendance is simply not practical when considering Camp’s long-term financial viability.

For those of you who had registered for 'Camp' Camp last year and chose to rollover your 2020 fees to this summer, don’t worry: we will continue to not only hold your rollover credits for you to use towards ‘Camp’ Camp 2022, but your 2020 rates, fees, and staff positions will be locked in for you next summer as well. Not only does this guarantee you a spot at Camp 2022 when we'll (finally!) be celebrating our 25th anniversary, it essentially also grants you a discount on the currently effective rates noted on our website. If you wish, going forward, you’ll also be able to use those credits towards other 'Camp' Camp events/purchases, like Virtual Camp 2021, our 2021/22 season of ‘Camp’ Camp Plus (our virtual day camp for LGBTQ adults), or items from our forthcoming online Camp Store.

Yes, we recognize that all of us are pretty Zoom-ed out 14 months into this pandemic, but Virtual Camp is a great way to both get a taste of the 'Camp' Camp experience and meet some of the amazing LGBTQ people from across the country who make up our fun & welcoming 'Camp' Camp community. As some of our Campers have said, no Zoom compares to a 'Camp' Camp Zoom!

Registration for Virtual 'Camp' Camp will open by July 1st, and, at just $125 for the week, it's both a great value and a great introduction to Camp if you've been on the fence about joining us in Maine. Many of the first-time Campers who joined us for Virtual Camp last summer had such a good time that they also registered for 'Camp' Camp Plus, our ongoing virtual programming that has run since October. Like our long-time Campers, they all agreed that Virtual Camp was the best (virtual) time ever!

We hope you'll considering joining us for Virtual Camp and look forward to meeting you (online) in August!

Virtual Camp Testimonials
If you don't believe us when we tell you that Virtual Camp captured the spirit of 'Camp' Camp – or that even folx who joined us for the very first time had the best (virtual) time ever – maybe you'll believe these Campers who attended last summer:

"Without exception, everyone I met during Camp was friendly, kind, and happy to engage the new person in whatever activity, game, or conversation was going on. … In a sense, Virtual Camp was actually a great introduction: "What if I don't like this? I am going to be stuck in the woods for a week!" became "I can't wait to do this in person!" I definitely felt like Camp was filled with "my kind of people."
– Vic M., Carteret, NJ (1st Year)

"I was surprised by how much it all really felt like being at Camp."
– Deb K., New York, NY (18th Year)

"Had a blast! I would do it again in a heartbeat."
– Tom H., Auburn Hills, MI (1st Year)

"It was quite amazing & impressive. I can see what a special community you are, and I look forward to being at Camp next summer."
– Jenn G., Portland, ME (1st Year)

"Far and above what I could have imagined. … Amazing! A+"
– Michael G., Brooklyn, NY (7th Year)

"It was really great – better than I had imagined. I wish had taken the entire week off so that I could have really sunk in and enjoy it."
– Daphne B., Chicopee, MA (7th Year)
