GET OUT THE VOTE

YWomenVote

YWCA Greater Baton Rouge knows the importance of women participating in the voting process. During the last few months, YWCA has joined the national YWCA effort called YWomenVote to educate and advocate for voting participation in our Baton Rouge region. The organization has conducted outreach efforts to enhance a greater understanding of the issues affecting the quality of life for women and families.

YWCA will continue to host several voting events leading up to the local and national elections. We will continue to canvas throughout disinvested neighborhoods as a focus on voter registration,” said Shatonda Chandler, YWCA Director of Community Services. Remember to Vote on Tuesday, Nov. 5, at your local voting location.

SALUTE TO SUPPORTERS OF THE YWCA PROVIDENCE PLACE APARTMENTS

The YWCA proudly opened its first apartment community, Providence Place, to enhance the lives

of domestic violence survivors. Twelve families are now housed in modern apartments and are

receiving wraparound services and resources as they strive to recover. Numerous individuals and

organizations supported the effort with donations, furnishings, and essential items.

We extend sincere thanks to our supporters:

#Anonymous Organization

A group of women dedicated to community outreach for women provided a generous donation to the YWCA specifically to assist with the many essential items needed for a new apartment. Books, childrenʼs toys, and many kitchen and bath items were purchased. Recently, members of the group took a tour of the apartment community and received a thank-you gift from the YWCA. Thank YOU!

Service 1st Real Estate, Antonio Cousin

We are incredibly thankful to Antonio Cousin of Service 1st Real Estate for his generous support of Providence Place families. He has been a dedicated and active supporter of the YWCA, including its Early Head Start Program. Thank you!

Thrive Causemetics

This month, we proudly announce a significant donation of exceptional cosmetics from the well-known Thrive Cosmetics firm through its Thrive Causemetics donation program. These products are among the many gifts shared with women in our domestic violence recovery program.

Additional Supporters of Providence Place Apartment Families and Children

Alicia Graves generously donated gently used furniture to the YWCA women and children of the newly opened Providence Place Apartments. On behalf of these families, the YWCA board of directors and staff extend their heartfelt appreciation to Ms. Graves, shown with Shatonda Chandler, YWCA Director of Community Services.

Sisters in Ministries of Greater King David Baptist Church donated large gift baskets filled with essential household items. Greater King David was a significant partner in the overall development of Providence Place Apartments, providing a lifelong lease donation for the property. Their congregation is deeply devoted to the well-being of Providence Place families.

A generous supporter, Ms. Brenda, donated apartment essentials, bathroom supplies, and cooking utensils. Thank you!

The Louisiana Office of Community Development donated backpacks and school supplies for all school-age children at Providence Place. These much-needed supplies were delivered just in time for the first day of school! Thank you.
