This is the second week of our "Bird Sit-in". Ginger will be painting the final 2 paintings on 8x10 canvas today. Naturally, they will be birds, which will be offered in our "Cook Originals" auction starting today, July 25th.
This is a Live YouTube tutorial tonight. These are Ginger Cook's original 8x10 paintings. We will also have several drawings throughout the night for our live audience.
This is a LIVE show where Ginger and Jon will be answering questions from the chat and just visiting with the studio audience.

This little rowboat photo was sent to us by Kim from her recent visit to Norway.
Naturally, Ginger added a few artistic touches that aren't present in the actual photo. There is a lot to learn in this tutorial.

Our one auction for the year starts today, Monday, July 25th, and ends on August 9th. Looking at our schedule for the remainder of the year, this appears to be our one and only auction for 2022. We will be offering over 50 paintings this time.

You have heard Ginger say many times, "What can you tell me about this subject that I haven't heard before?" Another "Gingerism"..."What can I take away without changing the story?"
In plain English, you are the artist responsible for the subject and story you want to share. What's important is committing to the image and the concept of how you want to paint it. For example, Ginger is known as the "Queen of Color" because of her use of color. I am sure you heard her during a tutorial, "Where else can I use this color?".
Ginger's paintings are bright and vibrant, with lots of colors. As she paints, she seldom washes her brush as she changes colors. This is called painting with a dirty brush. When you see an original Cook painting, you will be amazed at how many colors there are in her brushstrokes. Please look around the image below and examine some of her strokes. Also, let's say it together..."It's all about layers, layers, and more layers!"
