One Last Followup on Holding a Paintbrush

One more time on holding a paintbrush. This is very important to your success as an artist.

When painting with acrylics, it's important to hold your brush correctly in order to achieve the desired effect and avoid straining your hand. Here are some tips on how to hold a paintbrush when using acrylics:

Hold the brush by the handle near the ferrule (the metal band that attaches the bristles to the handle). This will give you better control and help you apply the paint more accurately.

Hold the brush at a slight angle, with the tip pointed downward. This will allow you to apply the paint smoothly and evenly.

Use a light touch when applying the paint. Acrylics dry quickly, so it's important to avoid overworking the paint or pressing too hard on the brush.

Relax your hand and wrist. Avoid gripping the brush too tightly, as this can cause hand fatigue and affect the quality of your brushstrokes.

Experiment with different grips and angles to find the one that feels most comfortable and allows you to create the desired effect. You will find the perfect grip that works best for you with practice.

Last Chance! This is it! Don't Miss Out!

We have been Island Hopping this Week!

We have been busy going from island to island in the South Pacific this week. We visited Noumea, Lifou Isle, Mystery Island, and Vila for the final stop.

Most of the islands have a very low population rate, with Mystery Island having ZERO.

No one lives on Mystery Island, as it is considered taboo to do so. The locals come across from nearby Aneityum on the days when ships call on the island. Mystery Island got its name when it was used as an airstrip by the Allies during WWII. The island's tiny size and remote location prevented the Japanese from figuring out where the planes were coming from, and so it was called the mystery island.

I took a bus ride around one of the islands on a bus that is called "Hop On, Hop Off." It is a double-decker bus that gives me a high advantage in grabbing some photos.

You'll immediately notice the open-air upper deck as you hop on the double-decker bus. This is the perfect spot to snap some pictures of the cityscape as you ride around. You'll see all sorts of sights, from bustling beachside shops and restaurants to stunning ocean views.

You might spot a windsurfer out on the water as you ride around. Watching these skilled athletes glide across the waves is a real treat and a great photo opportunity as well.

ATTENTION ALL PURPLE MEMBERS - AGAIN!

Purple Members - Are you out there?

We need to hear from you because we are very close to having a new website ready that's designed just for you! Do you want to be involved in what we will offer and teach you?

Use the Contact Us, and put PURPLE in the subject line so we can add you to the all-important list!

We have a challenge for you! This will be just a small sampling of the fun and educational things coming your way!

We have asked the Purple Members what they want to learn or what they are finding challenging in their paintings. So, with this in mind, we have a challenge for you that requires you to visit our website and look at a painting by Edmund Tarbell in our new series..."What can we learn from the Masters of yesteryear?"

These will be fun little exercises that will teach you to look at the paintings of the masters and notice some of the more subtle techniques that they employed in their artwork.

We want more Purples to participate before we discuss the answers.

Where are you PURPLES?

Challenges? Personal Art Coaching? Want more?

This colorful painting by Bella Mirza was shared with us. This is a painting that Bella finished on her own without asking for Personal Art Coaching session with Ginger.

But let me share with you a little story from this lovely lady that started on March 27, 2021. Bella had just joined our Art Academy as a Red Member, but soon after, April 5th, she wrote to us...

I think I jumped for the art classes before even figuring out or knowing anything about acrylic painting, the brushes, the types of brushes, and so much more that goes along with painting.

I have zero skills about the different strokes for blending, colour mixing, loading the brush and everything else that goes with the territory.

She asked to have her membership downgraded to the Yellow Membership; that way, she would still have access to all of the beginner lessons. She shared other concerns with us, but I said, "You have paid for the month; why not send a painting in for Personal Art Coaching?"

She took me up on the offer, and as they say, the rest is history. Bella has grown by leaps and bounds in the two years that she has been with us. She uses the Personal Art Coaching option to which the Red, Blue, and Purple Members have access.

The outstanding job of following the video tutorial and using what she has learned in this tutorial of "Red Autumn Bridge", Bella was able to create a masterpiece.
