We can only hope that winter will be coming to an end soon. But, it the meantime, here is a beautiful "best" ever winter landscape painting.

Our acrylic painting lesson will be on creating a beautiful Woodland Winter Landscape! We offered two sizes this year and plan on the same for next. We were only able to offer the larger to the North America market but will see what we can do for next year.

We will be expanding our downloadable lesson library for those that just want to purchase a lesson or two.

Okay, we have not added anything new this time, but we have some great designs and ideas that are in the works and will be released soon.

Each year, we will be producing a calendar that will be available through January of the year it's for.

During our visit to Sydney, Australia, we had the pleasure of spending time with our friend Debbie McKay. One of the highlights of the trip was taking a ferry ride over to Manly and exploring the area. We decided to take a cab ride around to see the sights and then went for a leisurely walk on the Fairy Bower Beach. The views were breathtaking and we really enjoyed the fresh sea air. After working up an appetite, we treated ourselves to a delicious lunch at Alice's Dumpling Bar. The food was excellent and we had a great time catching up with Debbie over the meal. Overall, it was a memorable and enjoyable day spent in the beautiful city of Sydney.

We have asked the Purple Members what they want to learn or what they are finding challenging in their paintings. So, with this in mind, we have a challenge for you that requires you to visit our website and look at a painting by Edmund Tarbell in our new series..."What can we learn from the Masters of yesteryear?"

These will be fun little exercises that will teach you to look at the paintings of the masters and notice some of the more subtle techniques that they employed in their artwork.

This was a personal photo challenge given to Marilyn McFarren for the expert painting that she did on the "Karen’s Antique Brass Kettle" tutorial. Here is a PAC transcript between Marilyn and Ginger.

This is the challenge photo for the Antique Iron.

Marilyn: "And it was a real challenge! The spools just about ate my lunch, and they still aren’t good enough to suit me."

Ginger: "I think you did a marvelous job on this. I knew the thread spools would be a challenge, but yours are very nice; they just need more shadows on them where the thread changes color. I like the lighter background, but now you need to change the light on the table too. See the peppers tutorial for table reflections. 

I added some shadow colors on the spools and more highlights on the thimbles, too, with some reflections in the table." (Ginger sent her painting back, illustrating the changes that she made in her painting program)

"You want to guide the colors of the thread to lead you into the painting with lights and darks. See if you find this helpful."

Marilyn: "I’ve made the changes on this one. I didn’t even think about those reflections! They make a huge difference."
