District 10 Newsflash
Brought to you by Councilman Clayton H. Perry
May 18, 2020
Howdy Neighbors,

We hope that you all are staying healthy and at home as much as possible. I can't believe that it's already mid-May. As some of you may know, City Council begins discussing the budget for the upcoming Fiscal Year in May. In my opinion, this is the most important job we do as your representatives and I want to make sure that your needs and concerns are appropriately addressed. We have put together an approximately six minute survey to gather your input regarding the FY 2021 Budget. The first budget meeting will take place on May 28; the remainder of the Fiscal Year 2021 Budget schedule can be found here .

Metro Health continues to provide up-to-date information and resources for our residents on their website . The numbers are updated daily at 7:00 PM. Mayor Nirenberg and Judge Wolff give nightly updates at 6:13 PM on TVSA. TVSA can be seen on the following video providers: Spectrum Cable Channel 21, Grande Cable Channel 20, AT&T U-verse Channel 99, Digital Antenna Channel 16.1 and online at www.sanantonio.gov/tvsa or www.facebook.com/COSAGOV .

As always, thank you for being active community members and leaders here in District 10. Please do not hesitate to contact our office if we can be of any assistance to you. The District 10 team is still on hand and available to address your needs and concerns throughout this time.

Neighbors, it is with deep sadness that I am sharing the news of the passing of Ed Keely. Edmund Keely, former Valencia Home Owners Association President and Board of Directors member, passed away on May 1, 2020. Ed was 96 years young. He is survived by his wife and children. According to his loved ones, Ed often said that he accomplished more in his seventies and eighties than he did in all his previous years. He was instrumental in getting the Northeast Senior Center up and running. We will truly miss Ed's dedication to our community and ask that everyone keep his family and their loved ones in your thoughts and prayers.

SA Metro Health Expands Testing to Asymptomatic Individuals
San Antonio Metro Health announced the expansion of COVID-19 testing to asymptomatic individuals. Local health care providers, drive-thru locations, and the San Antonio Fire Department’s Mobile Integrated Healthcare Program (MIH) will continue to partner to bring the community accessible testing at no cost, while prioritizing underserved communities.

Previously residents were required to show symptoms of the disease, which included a fever, dry cough, chills, amongst other symptoms of COVID-19. Starting today, individuals will have access to testing even if they do not have any COVID-19 symptoms.

To view testing location options, visit the Metro Health website. It is encouraged to make an appointment at most locations. For a designated time please call the COVID-19 hotline for more information at 210-207-5779.

Community Spotlight
Redland Estates for put together a "Fiesta Faux Parade" in their neighborhood over the weekend. This parade honored 2020 graduates, students, teachers, first responders and the residents of Redland Estates. Thank you for creating a sense of excitement and lifting our spirits.

It has been so nice to see so many neighbors coming together - even while social distancing. Please continue to send us photos of your community in action and we will continue to share.
Thank you, Steve Peterson!
Our Neighborhood Engagement Director, Steve Peterson, coordinated the donation of 300 reusable grocery bags from SAWS and SARA to Blessed Angels Community Center this week - with more on the way from CPS and Whataburger!
