Building opportunities for sustainable, affordable housing in northern Arizona.

MARCH 2025

SPOTLIGHT

In the below comedic video, join Rommy as he meets with his accountant to find the best way to maximize his 2024 Arizona state taxes! He discovers how the dollar-for-dollar Arizona Charitable Tax Credit lets him donate to Housing Solutions and reduce his state taxes by the same amount—creating a big local Flagstaff impact at no extra cost to him.

All jokes aside, we hope you’ll take advantage of the 2024 Arizona Charitable Tax Credit by donating to Housing Solutions. It’s a simple way to make a meaningful impact—redirecting the state taxes you already owe to directly support local housing initiatives. Keep that money in Flagstaff and help "build opportunities for sustainable, affordable housing in northern Arizona."

One Year Anniversary

It’s been one year since we launched JoJo’s Place, our transitional housing program providing critical support to individuals experiencing homelessness. In the first year, JoJo’s Place housed 47 households.

Here’s a snapshot of the households served:

  • Average annual income: $16,721.76
  • Average monthly rent: $519.77
  • Clients in case management: 81%
  • Residents with a disability: 42.6%

Elderly residents: 44.7%

Also, three residents successfully transitioned into permanent housing—a milestone worth celebrating! Thank you to everyone who has supported JoJo’s Place in its first year. Here’s to continuing our mission of providing safety, stability, and opportunity!

Volunteer of the Month

Please join us in congratulating Carol as Sharon's Attic's March Volunteer of the Month!

Carol’s dedication to volunteering at Sharon’s Attic is deeply connected to her passion for Sharon Manor, Housing Solutions’ transitional housing program for survivors of domestic violence. She values how the store directly supports families moving from homelessness into Sharon Manor, providing vouchers that empower them to shop for and furnish their apartments with essential, quality items. Carol also loves raising awareness about Sharon Manor’s impact and inviting the community to support survivors by donating and shopping at Sharon’s Attic. Beyond the mission, she enjoys the camaraderie of the volunteers and staff, describing them as a committed, passionate, and a truly wonderful group of people.

Beyond volunteering at Sharon’s Attic, Carol also serves on Housing Solutions’ Board of Directors, dedicating her time and talents to making a lasting impact on affordable housing in Northern Arizona. Carol also serves as a volunteer board member for the Verde Valley Habitat for Humanity, the Sedona Community Food Bank, and the Arizona Community Foundation of Sedona. Carol, we are beyond grateful for you!

Sustainability Events at Sharon's Attic

Sharon’s Attic hosted another fantastic sustainability event with support from the Flagstaff Sustainability Office! Our store manager, Cheryl, led a hands-on session on simple weaving using salvaged fabrics and donated yarn—showing how creativity and sustainability go hand in hand.

A huge thank you to Coconino Humane Society for bringing adorable puppies and to the Flagstaff Sustainability Department for sharing incredible eco-friendly tips with our shoppers!

LAST MONTH'S IMPACT

First Time Homebuyers

5 households became first time homeowners in February, improving their family's stability, thanks to down payment assistance administered by our pre-purchase program.

Sharon Manor Transitional Housing

2 households transitioned from homelessness into an apartment at Sharon Manor last month. These resilient survivors of domestic violence now have access to safe and supportive housing, trauma-informed case management, group trainings, and a children's program to help them rebuild and thrive.

Affordable Rentals

26 low-income households were able to stay affordably and stably housed in our rental homes and condos across Flagstaff.

Vouchers for Essentials

3 households from Sharon Manor and 1 from our JoJo's Place transitional housing programs used a Sharon's Attic clothing and home goods voucher, allowing them to shop for essential items and furniture at our thrift store.

Community Loan Center of Arizona

71 individuals received affordable small-dollar loans through our Community Loan Center, promoting stability and helping them avoid predatory lenders.
