Boating Season - Opening Day 2025

The moment everyone has been waiting for... the Official Opening Day of Boating is Saturday, May 3rd! The Seattle Yacht Club will be putting on their annual festivities on the Montlake Cut that includes the Windemere Cup Collegiate Rowing Regatta. Traffic in and out of Lake Union will be restricted during the daytime events. Whether you are taking part or just getting out on the water, the boating season has finally arrived.

High Water Levels on Lake Washington

The water level on Lake Washington has risen significantly in the last month. If your slip is located on the fixed docks at Leschi Center or Leschi North, it is recommended to adjust your mooring lines and fenders to match the rising water levels.

Leschi Center Marina Dry Storage

We have made progress but are still asking for your help from the customers who keep their kayaks and SUPs on the storage racks at Leschi Center. We have a lot of boats that are unidentified in our system that we need to get information on. If you rent a storage rack from us, please email Kailyn Wise with details on your kayak or SUP so we can get your correctly identified for this season. If we do not know who items belong too you may be at risk of losing your storage for the season. The documents below have pictures of the kayaks and SUPs that are not registered in our system, if you see yours let us know which one it is.

Lakewood Sanctuary Work Party

Join us on May 13 from 9 AM to noon for a morning of volunteer work at Lakewood Sanctuary! We'll be spreading mulch to build healthier soil and support the local wildlife. The sanctuary is home to beavers, eagles, turtles, and more—you might just spot a few of its wild residents while you work! All ages are welcome. Please note that the terrain may be uneven and brushy in some areas.

What to bring: Water bottle, closed-toe shoes, and weather-appropriate clothing. Tools, gloves, snacks, and extra water will be provided.

Where to meet: In the grassy area to the left of the marina gates, next to the beaver damn.

Spring Boating Checklist

When you're getting your boat ready for the season it can be a process to check everything to make sure you are ready to hit the water. Use this Spring Commissioning Check List to help you go through and make sure your boat is all ready to launch.
